William Edward Holmes, age 80 died Saturday at his home in Gainesville.
He was born in Oil City, Pennsylvania to Theodore and Marcine Ausel Holmes. They preceded him in death. Mr. Holmes has lived in Gainesville since 1950 taking a job with the Univ. of Florida Administrative Computer Center and worked there about 38 years, before retiring He was an avid Gator and Steelers Fan and was an avid hunter.
Mr. Holmes is survived by his Wife, Dorothy Lou “Dottie” Riley Holmes of Gainesville, his daughter Valrie Holmes of Gainesville, FL, his son, Tommy Holmes (Danielle Marie) of Palm Bay, FL., sister Nancy Jean Riggle of Junction, WI. Aunt and Uncle Mary Ada and Gene Plyer and Special Big Sisters, Hazel Pearce, Jan Moore and Marguerite Lee, and a grandchild on the way.
The Family will receive friends Friday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM in the MILAM FUNERAL HOME OF NEWBERRY, 22405 West Newberry Road with the service starting at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow immediately after the service in Countryside Cemetery, N.W. 39th Ave., Gainesville, FL.
