Donald F. Weller, Sr., 92, of Oil City, died at 3:45 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca following an extended illness.
Born April 1, 1922 in Indiana, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Albert L. and Lelia (Shaffer) Weller.
Don graduated from the Emlenton High School and then attended Allegheny College.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 until his honorable discharge on November 24, 1945. He attained the rank of sergeant and specialized as an airplane maintenance gunner, and earned qualifications as a carbine marksman.
Mr. Weller was member of the Parker City-Allegheny Valley Masonic Lodge No. 521, where he served as the lodge master in 1963. He was also a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge #110, the P.N.A. and the Pulaski Clubs in Oil City.
Don enjoyed playing golf and pool, gardening, and watching baseball.
Mr. Weller owned and operated Weller’s Restaurant in Emlenton for many years, and then became the manager of J.P.’s Pub in Toledo, Ohio, before retiring.
He was married in Rocky Grove on December 31, 1969 to the former Genevieve “Jean” M. Garbacz, and she survives.
Also surviving are four children: Toni Lee Weller of Durham, N. Carolina, Donald F. Weller, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Reno, Diane Hoffman and her husband Robert of Florence, Kentucky, and James D. Weller and his wife Mary Lee of Paris, Tennessee; four grandchildren: Justin and Nicholas Hoffman and Nathaniel and Rebecca Graham; his sister, Marjorie Grumling of Oil City; a sister-in-law, Jean Weller of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Albert L. Weller, Jr.
There will be no visitation. A graveside committal service and interment will be held Thursday (June 19th) at 11 a.m. at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Rte. 322 in Cranberry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.
