Richard J. English, 85, of Oak St. Henry’s Bend, died Sunday Morning at his home after a period of declining health.
Born Aug. 23, 1927 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late Leo J. & Alice E. Seyboldt English.
Rich was a 1946 graduate of Oil City High School.
He was married on Oct. 5, 1957, in Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion to Marion C. Hubauer and she survives.
Mr. English retired as sub foreman with National Fuel Gas in Titusville, after 42 years of service with the Company.
He performed with the Les James Trio for many years as well as playing in several other local bands. He played the clarinet and the saxophone.
Rich enjoyed living in Henry’s Bend where he loved boating and taking friends and family water skiing and tubing.
He was a scoutmaster at St. Stephen’s in his younger years and kept in touch with many of his scouts still to this day.
He was a member of St. Stephen’s Church and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by one daughter, Julie Howard & her husband Kent of Venus and their two children Nicholas and A.J. Kent, one brother, Robert L. English & his wife Marion of Oil City, and by Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard M. “Rick” English, three brothers, Leo D. English, William F. English, and T. Joseph English.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 7-9 P.M. on Tuesday Aug. 6, in the Reinsel Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in St. Stephen’s Church with Fr. Matthew Ruyechan, Pastor, Presiding.
Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
