Robert R. “Bob” Ruffner, 60, of Hawkville, PA, went home to be with Jesus on August 10, 2013. Bob was traveling back to his camp in Cook Forest on his Harley when a motorist pulled out in front of him; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bob arrived into this world on October 19, 1952 at the Brookville Hospital to parents Paul and Ruby (Buzzard) Ruffner.

During his childhood, Bob enjoyed being on the farm with his family and grandparents. It was there where he would be molded into the man everyone would come to know. Bob loved spending time on the farm; driving the tractors, making hay, taking care of the livestock and most importantly spending time with his uncles and grandparents. Bob continued to farm up until his passing.

Bob lived the first forty years of his life unmarried, but then he met his soul mate and best friend. Bob and Sally said “I do” on June 26, 1993 at a small family wedding. When Bob married Sally, he inherited her two sons, Greg and Aaron, and you would have never guessed that they were not his own. Bob was a very patient, kind and caring father.

Most recently, Mr. Ruffner was the industrial arts instructor at Union High School in Rimersburg. He was also the boys track coach and was previously a coach for the Golden Knights football team.

Bob took passion in teaching and he loved helping people and showing them how to do things. He was truly a teacher of life and not just subjects. Bob was the most unselfish person there was. He would drop what he was doing to help a complete stranger do what they were trying to do. He carried out a great life and walked all the while with Jesus!

Bob had many hobbies that he enjoyed and all of them included his wife. Whether it be going for a Harley ride or playing a round of golf, Bob was always in good spirits and just enjoyed the moment.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mona “Sally” (Anthony) Ruffner; sons, Greg Hornberger and wife, B.J., and their daughters, Jocelyn and Cambria, of Hawkville, and Aaron Kroh and wife, Andrea, and their daughters, Mya, Anna, Isabella and Charlotte, of Hermitage; parents, Paul and Ruby Ruffner, of Rimersburg; brother, Ed Ruffner and wife, Suzanne, of Rimersburg; dogs, Gabby, Bentley, Little Bear, Chloe, Lola and Chance; numerous uncles, aunts, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Sammy Ruffner.

Friends will be received from 7-9 PM on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 and from 2-9 PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main St., Rimersburg.
Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Baker Street Church of God, 160 Veteran St., Rimersburg, with the Rev. John Green officiating.

Contributions can be made in his memory to the Union High School Athletic Department, 354 Baker St., Suite 2, Rimersburg, PA 16248.
