William F. Vowinckel

William F. Vowinckel, 75, of Shippenville PA, passed away at 6:15 am Monday, September 9, 2013, due to complications from an extended illness.

He was born on September 30, 1937, in Clarion PA, the son of Frank B. and Margaret L. (Jeannerat) Vowinckel, who preceded him in death.

He was a lifetime member of the Clarion community and retired from ownership of Vowinckel Tires after 45 years and Seneca Skating Rink for over 20 years.

A well known “tire man” in the community for years and a social, generous man to all in the community, he will be fondly remembered for his love of teaching children to skate and his outward personality. He enjoyed motorcycling, boating on the Clarion River, hunting, flying planes with his uncle, John “Beany” Vowinckel, and dining out.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Marilyn “Mimi” R. Miles Vowinckel; and his daughters M. Renee Vowinckel of Clarion, PA and Aimee B. Vowinckel of Fort Mill, SC.

Also surviving are his brother James Vowinckel, of Clarion, PA; his niece Ashley R Vowinckel of Harrisburg, PA; his sister Janet Bowser, of Marco Island, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home at 330 Wood Street in Clarion PA where visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11 from 2-4 and 7-9pm and Thursday at 10-11am with funeral immediately following at 11am. Rev. Deryl K. Larsen, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion will officiate.

Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to Camo Cares in Knox, PA.
