Henry E. “Sonny” Card, 78, formerly of Mapledale, died at 7:02 P.M. Monday Nov. 25, 2013 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City after an extended illness.
Born Dec. 11, 1934 in Franklin, PA., he was the son of the late Henry Card & Hazel Rodgers Card.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School. Mr. Card was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a Corporal during the Korean War. He had received the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service medal, the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and the Good Conduct Medal.
Sonny was a supervisor in the yard at Franklin Steel. He was a member of the Willow St. Free Methodist Church. Mr. Card was also a member of the Oilers Camping group and the Franklin V.F.W.
After retirement, he had drove truck for Allied Trucking. He enjoyed country music, vacationing and traveling with his wife and spending time with family and friends. He was married to the former Judith A. Mohnkern on March 10, 1990 and she survives.
He is also survived by three children, Deborah Shoup of Franklin, Sherrie Bowler & her husband Rick of Seneca, Michelle Kline & her husband Pat of Tionesta. Henry has three stepchildren,Terry Dunkle of Sandy Lake, Tangy Kapp & her husband Dave of Seneca, Todd Dunkle & his wife Vickie of Pleasantville. Henry also has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A brother Charles “Chuck” Card & his wife Chiko of Franklin, a sister Gladys Tarr of Grove City, And the following step brothers and sisters, Henry Card Jr. & his wife Jennifer of CT., Paul & Donna Card of Emlenton Roy Card of Emlenton, James & Kathy Card of CT., Anson Card of Emlenton ,Florence “Sis” Dodge of Oil City, Reanie Pannell & her husband Ron of OH. ,Tena Brown & her husband Bob of Corsica, Gertie Honsley of MN, and by many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother-in laws and their wives, Jim & Lois MohnkernTom, Jane MohnkernJohn, and Carol Mohnkern.
He was preceded in death by two step brothers George Card & William Card And by two step sisters Nancy Card & Mary Irene Card.
Friends will be received from 5-7 P.M. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 7 P.M. in the Funeral Home with Rev. T. Christopher Hill, Pastor of Willow St. Free Methodist Church, Presiding.
Military Honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery.
