Joy Elizabeth Fingado Boozer

Joy Elizabeth Fingado Boozer went home to be with Jesus on December 21 from the Clarion Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 7, 1955 in Oneonta, New York and daughter of Harvey E. and Evelyn A. (Owen) Fingado.

Joy, who spelled her name, J – Jesus first, O – others second, Y – yourself last, will be sorely missed by all. She blessed the likes of many with her gifts of cooking, helping, and hospitality. She cooked many years for Bible Colleges and church camps and was known for her yummy goodies and baked goods especially her homemade rolls. She attended the First Bible Holiness Church in Venus.

Joy is survived by her husband, Myron Boozer, Her mother, Evelyn Fingado of Fairmount City, two sisters, Ruthie Dugan of Mount Orab, Ohio and Diane Clapper and husband Larry of Worcester, New York, a brother, Harvey Fingado, Jr. of Maryland, New York, two children she adopted, Danielle and Tommy, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Fingado, Sr. and her grandparents.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 23, from 1:30 – 3:30 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Sonja Shirley, Pastor Richard Owen, and Wesley Sanford officiating. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery in Frogtown.
