Elsie Lillian Rodgers

Elsie Lillian Rodgers, 87, of Franklin, passed away on Sunday, July 14, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born February 14, 1926 in Philadelphia, Elsie was the daughter of the late Theodore and Elizabeth Smith Post. She was married to Claude Richard Rodgers August 2, 1952, and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1999. Elsie graduated from high school in England. She was a member of St. John’s Espicopal Church, where she was involved in many church activities. She enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Bethal Church Quilters and the Bethal Church Homemakers.

Elsie is survived by her son, Richard F. Rodgers and his wife, Teresa, of Alpharetta, Georgia; her daughter, Robin Murray and her husband, Kim, of Cooperstown; and her grandchildren, Jessica E. Rodgers of Medina, Ohio, and Benjamin R. Rodgers of Lakewood, Ohio. She is also survived by her nephews, Ian Post and his wife, Barbara, of Philadelphia, and Alan Post and his wife, Anne, of Philadelphia; her niece, Adrienne Post Cutts and her husband, Iain, of England; her great-nephew, Jeffrey Ian Post; her great-nieces, Stephanie Post Sneller and her husband, Paul, of California, and Alanah, Ava and Fallon Cutts; and her great-great-nephew, Malcolm James Sneller of California.

In addition to her parents and husband, Elsie was preceded in death by her brother, Theodore Post; and her granddaughter, Christy Rodgers.

Family and friends of Elsie will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Wednesday, July 17 from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Franklin, on Thursday, July 18 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Mother Holly Davis, pastor of the Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church – 1145 Buffalo Street, Franklin, PA 16323; the Bethal Church Homemakers – c/o Bethal UM Church, 2656 Route 417, Cooperstown PA 16317; and/or the charity of one’s choice.
