James Joseph Wilk, 86, of Parker passed away at 11:15 PM Friday evening (12-27-13) at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on March 31, 1927, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Monica Faber Wilk. Jim graduated from Peabody High School in Pgh., the former Gimbel’s Mercantile School, and completed the management courses with Dale Carnegie.
A veteran of World war II, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.
He was honorably discharged with rank of Seaman 1st Class, and earned the American Area Victory Medal.
Mr. Wilk worked in carpet sales and management with various carpet companies including Gimbel’s, Ozite, and Pennsylvania Floors.
He was a member of Lodge 808 F.& A.M. of Pleasant Hills, Pa. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Cooper Wilk; three sons: David Alan, Russell Keith, and James Michel Wilk; two step-children: William J. Hildebrand and Mary Jane Nail; several grand and step-grandchildren; brother John (Jack) Wilk of Calif. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM THURSDAY, Jan. 2nd, at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 So. Wayne Ave., Parker.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Chris Clark of the Chapel on the Hill officiating. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Members of the VFW and American Legion of Parker will conduct veteran services at 3:45 PM Thurs. at funeral home.
