Illa A. Black

Illa A. Black, 100, of Knox, Pa., formerly of the Callensburg area, passed away early Friday morning (01-10-14) at her residence of natural causes.

Born in Higgins’ Corners, Butler Co., Pa. on April 24, 1913, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Alma Thompson Seelbaugh.

Illa was of the United Methodist faith. She loved to crochet, and with patience, taught her grandchildren the art of crocheting as part of her legacy.

Surviving are two daughter: Marie Smith of Emlenton and Nancy Reed of Knox, with whom she made her home; two sons: Paul Black of Emlenton and Frank Black of Sligo; twelve grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; two sisters: Grace Berringer of Colorado and Katherine Critchlow of Sandy Lake, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Black in 1984, and numerous siblings.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 So. Washington St. in Eau Claire, Pa.

Funeral services will be held at 7:15 PM Monday in the funeral home with interment to follow Tuesday morning at Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattenville.
