Ronald Sherwood Crissman, 84 of Mayport (Shannondale), quietly passed away in his home on Sunday, January 12.
Ron was born on January 24, 1929 in Long Beach, California and son of Darl Sherwood “Butch” and Wilma Gene (Lucas) Crissman. While working at GE in Erie, Ron met the love of his life A. Irene (Burch). They were married on February 20, 1948 and spent almost 66 years together.
Ron worked for 40 years at Crawford Furniture Co. in Fairmount City (Alcola), where he retired at age 62. Ron’s interest included woodworking, clock building, camping, and backpacking. He loved to read westerns and watch football.
There was not much he couldn’t fix and no one he wouldn’t help. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Shannondale.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory that no one can steal. He will be sadly missed by his family, but they will carry your memory in their hearts.
Ron is survived by his wife, Irene Crissman of Shannondale, two daughters, Linda Hoff and her husband Dave of Treasure Lake and Diane Crissman of Pittsburgh, four sons, Kim Crissman and his wife Gwen of Alburquerque, New Mexico, Stan Crissman and his wife Barb of Shannondale, Bob Crissman and his wife Terri of Pansy, and David Crissman and his wife Kathy of Hawthorn, sixteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, and three sisters, Gloria Wolfgong and husband Amos of Summerville, Helen Rudolfie and husband Rudy of Long Beach, California, and Donna Contee and husband Jim of Brookville.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 14, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 15, at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Steingass officiating.
Interment will be in the Shannondale Union Cemetery, Redbank Township, Clarion County.
