William C. “Bill” Reitz, age 81, of New Bethlehem, passed away Friday, January 10 in Punxsutawney.
Born January 6, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Lester F. and Frances J. (Hogan) Reitz.
Bill worked at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh as a printing and microfilm clerk for nearly twenty years and retired as a security guard for Pinkerton Security in 1984. After retirement, he served as a crossing guard to the children of New Bethlehem.
He was a Thirty-second Degree Mason and past Master of New Bethlehem Lodge #522, F & AM Treasurer of Men’s Bible Class at the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem and was a former Treasurer and member of the New Bethlehem Fire Co. No. 1.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two sisters: Jacqueline I. Rietz and Augusta Jane Reitz Tell.
At Bill’s request, there was no public visitation. A Masonic Service by New Bethlehem Lodge #522 was held at 7 p.m., Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. Burial followed at New Bethlehem Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service of New Bethlehem.
