Richard C.( Dick ) Capp Sr. 74 of 120 Spring Rd. Oil City, PA. and formerly of Munhall passed away unexpectedly Tuesday January 21, 2014 at UPMC Hamot in Erie ,PA.
He was born in Pgh., PA on Dec. 6, 1939 son of the late Charles and Ida Cush Capp.
He was a 1958 graduate of Munhall High School.
Dick was a veteran of the USMC serving from 10-19-1961 thru 10-19-1964. Returning from the service He started a forty year career with Bev-O-Matic, which had a long term contract with Electralloy bringing him to this area. He retired in 2001 .
Mr. Capp appreciated Holiday Services at the Wilson Ave. Free Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Hill who married Mr. Capp and his wife the former Barbara L. Gatesman- Thomas on May 5, 2001, and she survives.
He is also survived by his children Lois (Joe) Kobrys, Marie ( J.J. ) Zekeny, Dan ( Darlene ) Capp ,Rick ( Annette ) Capp , and was a proud grandfather and greatgrandfather to Donnie,Bradley, Abbey, Joey,, Kimberly, Cassie, Brock, Mallory, Bill and Colton, Bradley Jr. Chase and Jessina , and a step-mother Dorothy Capp, and two brothers Dan ( Karen ) Capp and Michael Capp and a nephew Dan.
He was preceded in death by his sister Deloris Capp .
Dick no longer lived in the Steel City, but still carried a patch of black & gold where he introduced Oil City to Iron City. He always said, “ The Dr. told him he needs his “iron “. Guess that is what made him a whiz at scrabble. He enjoyed playing penny slots, the lotto, and bets with the guys. You could always see Dick riding his John Deere or by accepting his open invitation to join him on the back porch. He looked forward to spending time with family and friends , and enjoyed listening to oldies and watching westerns.
Dick was loved and enjoyed by his extended family. Barb’s girls often joked about his youthful appearance. Lori always cooked the best bacon for him, and Lesa will be waiting at the gates. And He will always be watching Julian swim in the pool.
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon till 3:00 P.M. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home & Crematory 116 Bissell Ave. Oil City, PA 16301. A Service will be then be held at 3:00 –P.M. in the Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Hill , presiding.
A Second visitation will be held from 12 Noon till 3:00 P.M. Saturday followed by a service at 3:00 P.M. at the R.V. Anderson Funeral Home, INC. 315 East Tenth Ave. Homestead, PA 15120. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Pgh.
