Mable Helen Wetzel

Mable Helen Wetzel, age 92, of New Bethlehem, died early Sunday morning, February 2, 2014 at the Kittanning Care Center.

Born May 16, 1921 in Deanville, Armstrong County, she was a daughter of the late John and Annie Moorehead Griffin.

Mable was a graduate of the New Bethlehem High School.

She married Clifford E. “Hap” Wetzel on October 19, 1945. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1989.

Mable had been a teller for First Seneca Bank and later worked for the Redbank Valley School District, serving as the Cafeteria Manger for 24 years. She retired in 1983.

She was a member of the Arts and Crafts Club, the United Methodist Women, the New Bethlehem Civic Club and the PA Association of School Retirees.

Survivors include two daughters: Joyce Pall and her husband, Mike, of New Bethlehem and Patricia Hale and her husband, John, of Distant.

Mable is also survived by her three grandchildren: Lesli Bennett and her husband, David, of Eldersburg, MD; Tamela Smith and her husband, Stephen, of New Bethlehem and Jamie Hale, also of New Bethlehem; Four great grandchildren: Ashley Bennett, David J. Bennett, Nick Smith and Brooke Smith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sister, Thelma Proctor and LaRue Allen.

Family and Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem, 234 Penn Street, New Bethlehem. Reverend Jodie Smith, a pastor of the Redbank Valley United Methodist Ministry, will officiate over the service.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery on Beautiful Lookout, Redbank Township, Armstrong County.

Memorial contributions may be given in the name of Mable H. Wetzel to the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem-Building Fund, 234 Penn Street, New Bethlehem, PA 16242.
