Harold R. Hearst, 64, of Oil City, passed away on Wednesday , February 5, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. UPMC-NW in Seneca.
Born on October 6, 1949 in Wayne, Michigan, he was the son of the late Joel and Katherine Morrison Hearst. He was employed by the County of Venango as a laborer. Mr. Hearst was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the Franklin Free Methodist Church, and enjoyed fishing, camping, and listening to old Motown records. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Era, earning the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Harold is survived by his sons, Thomas Hearst and his partner, Amber Knapp, of Oil City, Isiah Beach of Franklin, Alfred Harayda and his partner, John Weida, of Sarasota, FL, and Jason Covington and his partner, Lisa Hartle, of Franklin; and his daughters, Shavone Turner, Ashantae Hearst, Katherine Beach, and Elizabeth Tate and her husband, Terry, all of Franklin. He is also survived by his former wives, Cathy Harayda and Billie Jo Hearst, both of Franklin.
Harold is also survived by his 2 sisters, Jolene Hearst and Catherine Morrison, both of Wayne, Michigan; and his 9 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Franklin Free Methodist Church, Buffalo Street, Franklin at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2014, with Rev. Frank Wolford officiating. A dinner will follow the service at the church.
Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc. will be handling arrangements.
