, 77, of Knox passed away Saturday February 8, 2014 at St. Vincent hospital in Erie.
Born November 16, 1936, in Hawthorn, he was the son of Ott and Myrtle Bish. On April 15, 1955, Jack married Colene Shick and she survives.
After graduating high school Jack joined the Air Force where he served 4 years during the Korean Conflict. He then went on to work for Metropolitan Life for 30 years until retiring in 1992.
Jack was a member of the Knox United Methodist Church, Knox American Legion, Knox Volunteer Fire Co., Knox Lions where he earned the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, the Beaver Twp Bucktails, Youth Field Days, Charitable Deeds and Services, Edenburg Lodge, Venango Lodge of Perfection, and New Castle Consistory.
Jack volunteered countless hours for many different organizations cooking and helping them put on meals and was recognized at Knox Horsethief Days as citizen of the year in 2004.
Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and hunting, camping, playing cards and watching the Steelers play.
In addition to his wife Jack is survived by two children Jack Bish Jr of Knox, and Cathy Lieberum of Stephens City, VA, four grandchildren Mike (Jen) Bish of Huntersville NC, Taylor Liebrum of Knox, Elisabeth Liebrum of Stephens City, VA, Lauren Reddinger of Knox and one great grandchild Sidney Bish. Also Surviving are two sisters June Matson of New Bethleham, Anna Fredricks of Denew, NY, and Carl Bish of Batavia NY. Along with his parents Jack was preceded in death by two sisters Mable Bish and Loretta Glaze and a Brother Darl Bish.
The family will received friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Monday February 10 and from 10 to 11 AM Tuesday February 11 at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc, 504 East Penn Ave, Knox.
Funeral services will be held at 11 Tuesday in the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Knox Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jack’s honor to the Knox United Methodist Church, the Knox Volunteer Fire Co, the Knox Lions or Charitable Deeds and Services.
