Alice Marie Strauser, 57, of Rimersburg, PA, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Clarion Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born on February 10, 1956 in Rimersburg, the daughter of Charlotte “Tillie” Jean Yori.
Marie lived in the Rimersburg area all her life and attended the New Athens Church of God of Prophecy. She was a hard worker with a strong work ethic who had many jobs throughout her life. Marie worked for 10 years at Beverly Health Care as a nurse’s aide and health assistant, over 20 years at the Sligo and Callensburg Restaurants as a cook and waitress, and most recently at the Clarion Psychiatric Center for the last 10 years in housekeeping.
In her free time, she enjoyed going out to eat and doing yard work with George. Above all, she loved spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren. Marie will be best remembered for the love she had for her family, her feisty personality and her quick-witted sense of humor.
She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, George Strauser, whom she married December 23, 1972; son, George E. Strauser, Jr. and wife, Kelly, of Brookville; daughter, Kathryn J. Miller and husband, Drew, of Perryville; grandchildren, Alicia and Zackery Miller, and Jaxson Strauser; and brothers, Dale Hockenberry, of East Brady, Chuck Hockenberry and wife, Donna, of Tarentum, and Don Hockenberry and wife, Sue, of Sligo.
Marie was preceded in death by her mother; brother, Paul Hockenberry; and sister, Donna J. Hockenberry.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 758 Main Street, Rimersburg, PA.
Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Rimer Hill Cemetery, Templeton, Pennsylvania.
