Shirley “Jean” Sharp

>Shirley “Jean” Sharp, 67, of Oil City, went to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, February 26, 2014, surrounded by her family at the Golden Living Center in Oil City.

Born May 9, 1946 in Van, she was a daughter of Helen Ruth Bly and the late John Frederick Bly.

Jean graduated from Oil City High School in 1964.

She was employed most of her life as a cashier working 27 years for Penn Traffic “Riverside”.

Jean enjoyed decorating cakes especially for her grandchildren’s birthdays, as well as crocheting. She found great joy in watching her grandchildren, gardening and listening to her Christian music.

She was a lifelong member of the Free Methodist Church of Oil City.

Jean was married December 24, 1965 to Edward E. Sharp, who survives.

In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by 2 children, Ed Sharp Jr. and wife Bev of Oil City, and Karen Wenner and husband Bob of Oil City; five grandchildren, Travis and Trevor Sharp, Chelsea Barr, and Madalynn and Jacob Wenner; 2 step grandchildren, Bobby and Dana Wenner; and 2 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are her mother, Helen Bly of Seneca; two sisters, Arlene Ehrhart of Seneca, and Donna Robinson of Mebane NC; one brother, Fred Bly and wife Lori of Oil City; and many nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Freda Carson.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, and on Saturday at the Free Methodist Church of Oil City from 10 to 11 am.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Saturday in the church with the Rev. T. Christopher Hill and the Rev. Cynthia Hill, officiating.

Interment will follow in Rockland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Free Methodist Church of Oil City, 206 Wilson Ave, Oil City PA 16301.
