Nellie “Sox” Mae Reed, age 60 of Reed Rd, Clarion passed away July 21, 2013 at the Clarion Hospital after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born September 16, 1952 at Brookville Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary Lois Fryery Miller. Nellie attended school at Clarion Limestone School District. She was married to Mark Douglas Reed on September 11, 1969 and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2012.
Nellie worked as a cook at Johnny Garneau’s near Clarion for a number of years before going to work as a custodian for Clarion Area School District. She retired from the school district in January of this year.
Nellie enjoyed sewing, making crafts, playing cards, gardening, shopping and playing badminton. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
She is survived by a daughter Gloria and her husband Daniel Lambing of Clarion. Sisters, Betty Anderson of Knox, Mary Oglesby of North Carolina and Sue Nestor of Maryland, Grandchildren, Mark Lambing of Clarion, who affectionately called her Babba, Joel Lee Best Jr of Clarion, Amanda Ion of New York, John and Heather Boback of Ford City. A brother in law Leslie Reed Jr and his wife Lori of Strattanville along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter Jill Diane Eselman, nephews James Anderson, John Lockwood, Cody Lockwood, a brother in law, Carl McClain and a special sister in law Bernice McClain.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4, 7-9 at the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood St, Clarion, PA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM from the funeral home with Marsha Mahle of the Miola Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Miola Cemetery.
