Elaine Christine Shevchik, 60, Ebensburg, passed away March 18, 2014, at home.
Born Sept. 18, 1953, in Oil City, daughter of the late Elmer and Isabelle (Halkiewicz) Drelick. Survived by loving husband of 33 years, Joseph Shevchik; and only daughter, Heather Shevchik-O’Brien, Center Valley. Also survived by sister, Margaret Martis, West Chicago, Ill. Elaine was a member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church and a graduate of Penn State University.
She had been employed by Central Cambria Elementary School, and loved to volunteer her time at St. Vincent de Paul Society. She loved fishing on Lake Erie and spending time with her family. Elaine also loved shopping and could always find a sale.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Askew- Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Monsignor David Lockard, celebrant. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Oil City.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Elaine’s memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
