Shirley Ann Carrier

Shirley Ann Carrier, age 79, of Shippenville and formerly of Sligo, died Thursday morning, March 20, 2014 at the Clarion Hospital following a short illness.

Born October 2, 1934 in Brookville, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Florence Galbraith Hetrick.

Shirley worked for Central Electric in Parker.

She married Boyd B. Carrier on August 15, 1953 and they celebrated 56 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on February 16, 2010.

Shirley and Boyd enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, playing cards and time spent with her family. She loved growing flower inside the house and outside in her garden.

Survivors include three sons: Ricky B. Carrier and his wife, Lori, of Bellwood; Michael R. Carrier and his wife, Cindy, of Seminole and Craig A. Carrier and his friend, Amy, of Sligo; two daughters: Karen A. Carrier of Rimersburg and Deborah J. Miles and her husband, Jody, of Limestone; 10 grandchildren: Toni Watterson, Nichole Watterson, Matt Watterson, Christopher Carrier, Benjamin Carrier, Sarah Miles, Nathan Carrier, Phillip Miles, David Carrier and Joshua Miles.

Shirley is also survived by 6 great grandchildren: Bria Watterson, Braiden Watterson, Madison Rose Watterson, Wyatt Watterson, Landon Snider-Carrier and Raegan Carrier; 2 step great grandchildren, Dylan and Katie Reinsel and 1 brother, Harry “Pete” Hetrick and his wife, Bert, of Corsica.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Jean Burkett.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Jason Hunter, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Clarion, officiating over the service.

Interment will take place in the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanvile.

Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Shirley Ann Carrier to Charitable Deeds and Services, 98 Hickory Nut Lane, Knox, PA 16232.
