William H. Stroup, 74, of Chestnut Street, Franklin died at 6:28 a.m., March 21, 2014 at his residence.
Born August 16, 1939 in Franklin, PA, William was the son of the late James and Minnie Marie (McCandless) Stroup.
On July 21, 2008 he married the former Michele Garin, who survives.
Mr. Stroup was employed as a parts manager for Weaver Buick.
William enjoyed playing the guitar and had previously played in several local country bands.
In addition to his wife, Michele Stroup, he is survived by his children, William H. Stroup, Jr. and his wife, Sherry of Strattanville, PA, Ron Stroup and his wife Kerry of Oil City, Kimberly McCoy and her husband, Mark of Venus, Karen Vandervort and her husband, Bob of Oil City, and Sharon Stroup and her companion, J.R. Blauser of Seneca; his brother Richard (“Bill”) Stroup of Colorado; sisters, Lola Stroup and Alice Butler, both of Franklin; his sister-in-law, Beverly Hoffman of Franklin; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Helen Stroup of Oil City.
William was preceded in death by his parents, listed above; his daughter, Diane Jones, three brothers, Paul Hoffman, Jim Stroup, and John Hoffman; and sister, Stella Vogus.
Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin is handling the arrangements.
