Chesley (“Ches”) C. Deeter, 90, of Donation Hill Road, Cooperstown died at 10:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Sugar Creek Station, Franklin.
Born December 29, 1923 in Deckard’s Run, PA, Chesley was the son of the late Herbert and Martha (Williams) Deeter.
On October 15, 1949 he married the former Letty Logsdon, who preceded him in death on January 19, 1998.
Chesley was a graduate of Cochranton High School. He was employed as a crane operator for Cytemp Steel in Titusville until his retirement in 1991. He also worked part-time for Deeter Homes.
Mr. Deeter was a member of the Cooperstown United Methodist Church.
Ches enjoyed hunting, golfing, carpentry, and wood working. He loved cars and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Chesley is survived by his daughters, Brenda Bell and her husband, Jeff of Franklin and Deborah Ritchey of Denver, NC; his sisters, Mary Mitchell of Cooperstown and Dorothy Neely of Florida; five grandchildren, Alicia Biondi and her husband, Dr. Dan Biondi of Denver, NC, Brieann Carone of Cooperstown, Catelynn Bell of Franklin, Lynee Biller and her husband, Craig of Hopewell, PA, and Daneen Bell of Pittsburgh; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, as listed above.
Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Sunday, May 4, 2014, from 2-6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Randy Ritchey pastor of The Oak Grove Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Cooperstown Cemetery.
In Chesley’s memory, memorial donations may be made to the Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department and/or the Cooperstown Library.
