Mary Kay Smith, 89, of 520 Bissell Ave, Oil City, died at 9:20 am, Sunday, May 4, 2014, at the Golden Living Center-Oil City.
Born October 23, 1924 in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Perry Brooks and Ruth Mary Ament Seth.
Mary Kay was a graduate of Cranberry High School.
She worked in the Oil City Senior High school cafeteria for 28 years.
Mary Kay was an avid quilter, and enjoyed bowling and volunteer work. She was active with the Prom to Dawn committee for 45 years.
On July 10, 1943 she married Robert E. Smith, who preceded her in death on June 1, 1990.
Surviving are three sons, Robert G. “Butch” Smith and wife Wendy of Ballston Spa, NY; Cody Smith of Oil City and Mitchell Smith and companion Ruth Paszkowski of Oil City; a daughter, Janis Cook and husband Craig “Clem” of Oil City; two grandsons, Matthew Cook and wife Allyson, and Michael Cook and wife Alicia; and three great grandchildren, Sierra Cook, Savannah Cook and Landen Cook.
Also surviving are a brother, Robert Seth of Oil City; a sister, Isabell Cornmesser of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Smith; a granddaughter, Jill Renee Cook; and a brother, William Seth.
Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 am Thursday with the Rev. John Seth, officiating.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Activity Fund at Golden Living Center-Oil City, or to a charity of one’s choice.
