James O. Duncan Jr., 74, left his Loved Ones on May 14, 2014 at DuBois Regional Medical Center. He suffered a massive heart attack.
Born on December 10, 1939, in Sligo, PA, he was “Son” to James Duncan Sr, and Millie Guntrum Duncan. He was “Jim” to his loving wife of 53 years – Judy Craig Duncan. He was “Dad” to his girls and their hubbies – Kelly and Dave Webb of State College, PA, and Karla and Ron Cyphert of Seminole, PA. He was “Papa” to his 8 grandchildren – Julie, Rachel, Duncan, Chloe and Olivia Webb, and Corey, Josie, and Noah Cyphert. He was “Jimmie” to his only sibling – Janie Corbett and husband Burr of Clarion. He was “Brother-in-law” to Gloria and Mike Doshen of Leechburg, PA. He was “Best Friend” to his boxer Maggie. Our precious circle has been broken.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim graduated from Union Joint High School with the Class of 1958.
He served his country proudly, being in the Army from 1960 – 1963. During the post Korean War, he served guarding the DMZ. Jim was chosen to serve as an Honor Guard to President John F. Kennedy on one of his international visits.
Jim was a hard worker all of his life, working at Glass Containers at Parker, C & K Coal, Crawford Furniture, and retiring in 2007 from Union School District.
He was a sports enthusiast: over the years he played basketball, football, softball, and practiced martial arts. He also enjoyed watching sports from his favorite spot on the couch. His favorite pastimes included hunting, riding horses, watching Westerns on TV, being with his friends at the VFW, working in his yard, walking his dog, and his yearly family vacation to Ocean City, NJ, where he had a chance to watch his family grow over the years. He loved his grandchildren unconditionally.
