Alfred N. Pedder

Pedder PicAlfred N. Pedder, of Marienville, passed away on August 22, 2013 at the Brookville Hospital. He was 81 years old.

Born on July 29, 1932, in Ardara, Westmoreland County, he was the son of Ernest and Erna (Saupe) Pedder, both of whom have preceded him in death. In 1950, he graduated from North Huntington High School and then served in the United States Navy from 1950 until 1953.

On May 7, 1955 he married Delores J. Bugajksi, who survives.

Mr. Pedder was retired from the Pennsylvania Game Commission. He also was a hunter safety course instructor and a firearms instructor. Mr. Pedder was a dedicated hunter. He served as a deacon at the Ardara Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Pedder is survived by his wife, Delores; five daughters, Karen L. Pierce and her husband Mark of Fairfax VA, Cindy Hamilton of New Castle PA, Tammy Root and her husband Bud of Titusville PA, Renee Bauer and her husband Tony of Beech Grove IN, and Lisa Harvey of St. Claire’s Shore MI; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Pauline O. Shaffer

Pauline O. Shaffer, 96, of Cranberry, died at 5:20 am Friday, August 23, 2013, at The Caring Place in Franklin.

Born August 5, 1917 in Rockland, she was a daughter of the late William Orrin and Amanda Hefner O’Neil.

Pauline was a 1935 graduate of Oil City High School.

She was a homemaker all of her life and enjoyed caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Pauline was known for her delicious cooking and loved gardening and canning.

She was an avid bowler and a charter member of the Allegheny Sounds Chorus of Sweet Adelines.

Pauline was the person to call when you needed someone to listen and always had profound words of wisdom.

On January 9, 1939 she was married to Shurl S. Shaffer, who preceded her in death on July 18, 2001.

Surviving are two daughters, Carol Sheatz of Seneca and Nancy Schiffer and husband Gene of Erie; four grandchildren, Ben Schiffer and wife Juanita of Glendale AZ, Lisa Straub and husband John of Pleasantville, Jason Schiffer and wife Candace of Erie, and Chad Sheatz and wife Jenny of Cranberry; and 10 great grandchildren, Kelsi and Sidney Straub, Brooke Sheatz, Alice, Wyatt and Anthony Schiffer, Gage Schiffer, Elizabeth Horn and Connor and Adalyn Sheatz.

Also surviving are 3 sisters-in-law, Claribel (Peg) O’Neil, Eleanor O’Neil and Sally O’Neil; a granddaughter-in-law, Carla Sheatz; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Pauline was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Shaffer and Edward Shaffer; a grandson, Brad Sheatz; a son-in-law, Dean Sheatz; 5 brothers, Glen O’Neil, Howard O’Neil, Harold O’Neil, Richard O’Neil and Dale O’Neil; and two sisters, Jene Vivian O’Neil and Eva Hefferman.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 am Tuesday with the Rev. Clara Kohlmeyer, officiating.

Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery.

Pauline’s family would like to thank her caring neighbors, the staff at The Caring Place, the staff at UPMC Northwest, VNA Hospice, And Dr Fell, Dr Beals and Dr Rossino for the wonderful help and support.

Lieselotte (Lola) Rucker Seigworth

Lolo Seigworth cropped Lieselotte (Lola) Rucker Seigworth, 74, of Tionesta passed away August 25, 2013, at the Clarion Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born on April 15, 1939, in Munich, Germany, she was the daughter of Fritz and Annalies Rucker who preceded her in death.

She was married on February 19, 1965, in Dachau, German to Clarence Seigworth who survives.

Lola was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Tionesta.

Lola previously worked in the cafeteria at North Clarion High School. She enjoyed volunteering at the church including being a member of the DORCAS. She was also very involved in the Relay for Life and a member of the Wild Flower Garden Club.

She is survived by her husband, a brother Bodo Rucker, his wife Brigitte and their son Florian, all of Vaterstetten, Germany; brother Hans Rucker and his
wife Irene of Dachau, Germany; a nephew Jorg Rucker, his wife Moni and their daughter Marlene all of Munich Germany.

As per her request there will be no visitation and Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg will be caring for the family. A celebration of her life will be
held at a later date.

The family asks that memorials be made to The Radiation Campaign for the Cancer Center of Clarion Hospital in Lola’s name.

Hazel L. Beery

Beery, Hazel L. Hazel L. Beery, 87, of Brookville, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville, Pa.

Born on September 17, 1925, in Carnegie, Pa., she was the daughter of Howard Dale Willison and Margurite George Willison.

On November 10, 1968, she married Don M. Beery who survives.

She was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress/sewing; Metropolitan Life Ins. Co.; and Sylvania in Brookville, Pa.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Brookville, Pa. She was a certified Activity Director at nursing homes and a Life Member of the VFW Aux. in Fremont, Ohio.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Linda Goss (Malcolm) of Erie, Pa., and two nieces, Debbie Barr and Cheryl Burford.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, a son, J. Gale VanSteenberg, a grandson, Joe VanSteenberg, two brothers, Edwin and George Willison, and a sister, Florence Barnett.

Visitation hours are on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at McKinney Funeral Home with Evangelist John Otis officiating.

Interment will be at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Eldred Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa.

Samuel J. Ross, Jr.

Samuel J. Ross, Jr., 81, of 583 Vorhees Road, Titusville, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the Titusville Area Hospital surrounded by his family.

Sam was born on September 22, 1931 in Plumer to the late Samuel and Viola Grant Ross. He graduated from Oil City High School in 1950.

Sam joined the Army in 1952, served during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged in December 1960. Sam married Marjorie Servey in July, 1960 in Tionesta.

He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Struthers Wells Corp. before working at the Oil City Post Office where he served in many different positions during his thirty-three years of service. He retired in November of 1990.

Sam enjoyed making maple syrup with his brother-in-law for over fifty years, farming, and working on cars and tractors. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play baseball.

Sam is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of fifty-three years; two daughters: Grace Ross-George and husband Larry of Oil City, and Bonnie Staub and Lewis Staub of Franklin; four grandchildren: Kyle and Amber Staub, and Sarah and Seth George; a great-granddaughter, Annabelle Staub; a sister, Betty Johnston of Amherst, OH; and three brothers: Edward Ross of Wisconsin, Earl Ross of Oakland, PA, and Maurice Ross of Florida.

Sam was preceded in death by a son, Richard C. Ross; a sister, Mary Ricke; and three brothers: Joe Ross, Charles Ross, and Robert Ross.

As per Sam’s wishes there will be no services conducted. Interment will be in Jamison Corners Cemetery.

The services for Mr. Ross are being handled by the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home of 303 N. Washington Street, Titusville, PA 16354.

Frenzel Alcorn

Frenzel Alcorn, 76, of Boyers formerly of the Barkeyville and Clintonville area went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, August 25, 2013.

Frenzel was born September 8, 1936 in Grove City, she was the daughter of Floyd R. Walter and Florence F. Surrena Walter. Frenzel married Raymond “Bud” Alcorn on March 28, 1953, he passed away August 27, 1986.

Frenzel graduated from Wesley High School, Wesley Pa and she had celebrated their 60th year reunion this year. Frenzel had been the tax collector for Clintonville Boro for a number of years and had worked in Kwik Fill in Barkeyville as the restaurant manager for 9 years. She was known for excellent seamstress work that she did for the local area, from hemming wedding dress to making drapes, she loved to sew. Frenzel had a deep love for her family and enjoyed spending time with everyone. She was so proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and beamed when speaking of them. Her faith and love of God was evident in her life, her bible study and devotion was a daily practice in her life. She loved her church, West United Community Church in Boyers, and the people who attended with her. She attended the Senior Center in West Sunbury. Frenzel was very much a people person, always visiting with friends and family. In earlier years her and her husband Bud went camping and fishing in Canada.

Surviving are her children: Roxanne Compton and her husband Roy of Kentucky, Dennis Alcorn and his wife Lisa of Wesley, Scott Alcorn and his wife April of Jamestown, Pat Hoffman and her husband Mike of Barkeyville and Jewel Craig and her husband Dan of Boyers. 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren also survive. Proceeded in death by her parents and husband are her sisters Josephine Phipps, June Matthews and Wilda Baker and her brother Floyd E. Walter. One grand daughter Rachael Marie Hoffman.

Family will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Clintonville on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 3-5 and 7-9. Funeral Service will take place at the West United Community Church, 400 Unity Road, Harrisville PA, on Wednesday August 28, 2013 at 11:00 am with Pastor Boyd Smith officiating from the church. Helen Lucille Whiting Shoup

Helen Lucille Whiting Shoup, 85, of Blairs Corners, Rt. 338, Knox, died Sunday morning, August 25, 2013 at the home of her niece.

Born on November 5, 1927 in the village of Alum Rock, Richland Twp., Clarion County, Helen was the daughter of the late George H. and Ruth Elizabeth Whitling.

She was married to Samuel J. Shoup in St. Petersburg. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1972.

Mrs. Shoup had been a member of the Turkey City Church of God. She enjoyed watercolor painting, puzzles, coloring, and visits from friends and church members.

Surviving are two children, Linda M. Sheidelmantle and Samuel J. Shoup Jr.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth E. Glinkerman, a son, Eugene A. Shoup, and an infant daughter.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg, from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m Wednesday. A graveside service and interment will follow at the St. Petersburg Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Korona Say, pastor of the Turkey City Church of God, officiating. Ira “Bud” Wyman

Ira “Bud” Wyman passed away at his home in Frederick, MD on Friday, August 23, 2013.  Bud grew up in the Oil City area and attended school there until he entered the Navy at the age of 18. 

Upon his return from the Navy, he spent many years as an office-machine repairman in Maryland and Washington, DC.  After his retirement from that career, Bud operated a home-repair business from many years.  Recently, he served as a volunteer at a local elementary school for six years where he was much loved by both staff and students.

 

Bud was a life-long hunter with his family and friends and taught many of them how to hunt. He and his family enjoyed camping and he played softball on Montgomery County, MD teams for many years.

 

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gretchen (nee Straub), who is also from the Oil City area, five children: Dan and Karen Wyman, Bernard, MN, Randy and Kim Wyman, Raleigh, NC, Vickie and Edward King, Derwood, MD, Tim and Marggie Wyman, Gaithersburg, MD and Meg and Denis Dionne, Frederick, MD.  Bud is also survived by 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, plus one additional great grandchild is expected soon, along with his sister, Deanie McConnell and her husband Earl, of Rouseville, PA.

 

Bud was pre-deceased by his parents Kenneth and Amy Wyman, his stepfather Donald McIntyre, and two sisters, Evelyn and Nicky along with his brother Bob Wyman.

 

Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 E. Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Monday, August 26th from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm; where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 27th at 10:00 a.m.

 

Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville, MD.

Donna C. Bolt

Donna C. Bolt, 71, of East Brady, PA, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

She was born on July 3, 1942 in Arnold, PA, the daughter of Donald C. and Helen (Hemphill) Huffman.

Donna was raised in the Arnold and New Kensington areas and graduated from New Kensington High School in 1960. She married Alfred C. Bolt on June 3, 1966 and it was then that she moved to Sligo, calling the area her home ever since. Donna was a member of Sligo Presbyterian Church and served on the school board for Union School District for seven years in the 1980s. Literacy was a cause near to her heart, and Donna worked with the Literacy Council of Clarion County and also volunteered her time to teach people how to read.

For two years Donna and her sister ran a full-service bakery in Sligo featuring homemade cakes, bread, donuts, sticky buns and other delicious foods, but she most recently worked for the Clarion County Kirby dealer as a secretary and receptionist. She was an excellent baker and cook, and if anyone left her house hungry it was their fault because she always had an assortment of treats available. Family was paramount in her life and she was happiest when spending time with them. Donna will be remembered for always helping those in need and her family and friends will never forget her kind heart and sweet disposition.

Her memory will be cherished by son, Donald Bolt and wife, Terri, of Karns City; daughter, Jennifer Bolt, of East Brady; grandchildren, D.J. Bolt, Mason Bolt, Cassandra Bolt, Kayley Williams and Courtney Williams; and sisters, Shelly Haines and husband, Ronald, of Sligo, Penny Selker, of Clarion, Debbie Myers and husband, Dennis, of Sligo, and Ashley Huffman, of Brockway.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 40 years, Alfred V. Bolt, who died August 13, 2006.

Relatives and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main Street, Rimersburg, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the Sligo Presbyterian Church, 403 Colerain St., Sligo, PA 16255,with the Rev. Stephanie Weaver officiating.

Burial will follow at Cedarview Memorial Park, Strattanville, PA.

Dorothy M. Guthrie, 89, formerly of Cochranton and a resident of Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown, died Sunday Aug. 25, 2013, at the home.

Born June 9, 1924 in Castle Shannon, she was a daughter of John and Marie Bernarding Staudt. She married Harry J. Guthrie on June 1, 1946 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 2009.

She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith. Her hobbies included crocheting, painting, reading, crossword puzzles, baking and listening to music.

Survivors include her children, Dorothy Gage and her husband, Dale, of Cochranton, Mary Jane Bennett and her husband, Edward, of Meadville, Harry J. Guthrie and his wife, Christine, of Cochranton, John E. Guthrie and his wife, Shannon, of Cochranton, and Bette Perry and her husband, Robert, of Cochranton; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; three sisters, Margie Guthrie of Hadley, Emma Dodson and her husband, Richard, of Greenville, and Carol Hassinger and her husband, Joseph, of Conneaut Lake; and two brothers, Al Staudt and his wife, Virginia, of Cochranton, and Bernie Staudt and his wife, Fay, of Cochranton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Marie Healy, Rita Coast, Regina Kebert and Nancy Chisolm; and three brothers, John Staudt, Robert Staudt and Gerald Staudt.

Friends may call at Dickson Family Funeral Home Inc., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Schmolt of St. Brigid’s Church officiating.

Interment will be in Cochranton Cemetery.

Faye Marie Kennedy

Faye Marie Kennedy, age 81, of Berlin, Maryland and formerly of Knox, passed away Sunday morning, August 25, 2013 in Maryland.

Born March 22, 1932, in Corsica, she was a daughter of the late John and Annabelle Kennedy.

She was a 1950 graduate of Clarion-Limestone High School.

Faye married Stanley Mosier and he preceded her in death.

She was employed for 25 years in a position that she truly loved. She was a receptionist and switchboard operator for Knox Glass Containers.

After her retirement from Knox Glass, she worked part time for the Literacy Council at Clarion University.

Faye was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Knox and resided in Knox for most of her life. She eventually moved to Maryland to be closer to her family and was a resident of the Gull Creek Assisted Living Community in Berlin, Maryland for the past year.

Survivors include a daughter: Sandra Troese of Ocean City, Maryland; two sons: John McCleary and his wife, Gerri, of Alexandria, Virginia and Brad McCleary of Chambersburg, Maryland; two grandsons: Joseph Troese and his wife, Diana and Tony Troese, all of Annapolis, Maryland; two granddaughters: Melinda McCleary of Marco Island, Florida and Maria Milkowski and her husband, Karl, of West Chester.

She is also survived by a great granddaughter, Alivia Rose Troese, of Annapolis, Maryland.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Vandervort of Brookville.

There will be no calling hours.

A funeral service for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013, in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1051 Twin Church Road, Knox. Reverend Karen Parsh, pastor at St. Paul’s Lutheran, will officiate over the service.

Interment will follow in the Knox Union Cemetery.

Brandon Amon McConnell

Brandon Amon McConnell, of Stoneboro, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013. He was 15.

Born July 23, 1998, in Grove City, Brandon was a son of Ryan K. and Stephanie D. Welton McConnell.

He was beginning his freshman year at Lakeview High School.

Brandon was an avid reader and expert swimmer and marksman. He was very artistic and produced many fine drawings his family will treasure.

Brandon, known to family and friends as “Bam Bam,” was always entertaining with his dry sense of humor. He was charming, witty, fun-loving and kind.

He was family-oriented and enjoyed spending time with his cousins and a wide variety of pets. He is loved and will be missed each and every day.

He leaves behind his mom and dad and his siblings, Ashley and Hunter McConnell, all Stoneboro; his maternal grandparents, John and JoAnn Welton, Kennerdell.; paternal grandparents, Barb and Gary Diday, and Larry “Butch” McConnell and Louella McConnell, all Stoneboro; maternal great-grandmother, Donelda Bryant, Templeton, Calif.; and paternal great-grandmother, Marian McConnell, Stoneboro; loving aunts and uncles, Alan and Hilary Amon, Todd McConnell, and Kori and Ron Minor, all Stoneboro; and loving cousins, Carly and Tucker Amon; Andrea and Todd “TJ” McConnell; Michael and Joseph Marotta; and Justin Minor.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, John Bottini and Wayne and Evangeline Welton; paternal great-grandparents, Frank and Evelyn Amon and Harry G. “Hank” McConnell; and a special aunt, Heather McConnell.

Darlene Custer

Darlene Custer, 56, of Grove City passed away August 26, 2013 at the Grove City Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born February 22, 1957 in Grove City she was the daughter of the late Clarence E. Alcorn Sr., and Wilda Barker Alcorn. Darlene received her education from Franklin High School. She was employed at the AC-Valley High School as a nurses aid. Darlene was a member of the American Legion Post 220 in Grove City. She loved to spend time outside whether it was taking care of her horses or enjoying her gardens. She had a vegetable gardens along with flower beds. Her grandchildren where the loves of her life and enjoyed spending time with all of them. Darlene also liked to play Bingo, even threw her treatments she would go and play with her friends. Her companion Manny Cabral and herself would co-drive across the county in there semi truck. She saw a lot of the United States while traveling with Manny. Darlene loved to take her grandson Nick fishing also.

Surviving are three children, Amanda Custer, Stephanie Bowen and Thomas Custer all of Grove City. Her companion Manual Cabral of Harrisville. 2 sisters Juanita Gothe and her husband Craig of Barkeyville, Brenda York of Mercer. 2 brothers Harry Alcorn of Eau Claire and Larry Alcorn and his wife Virginia of VA. A sister in law Linda Alcorn of Harrisville. 5 grandchildren Nicholas Robinson, Avery and Allana Mazon and Ebon and Vaeda Custer. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Proceeded in death in addition to her parents are a brother Clarence “Ed” Alcorn II, and a nephew Samuel York. Family will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Clintonville on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm funeral services will take place at 1:00 with the Pastor Scott Kifer officiating from the Church of God of Prophecy in Leesburg. Bonnie (Davis) Stuckert, age 92, of Upper St. Clair, died on August 22, 2013.

Beloved wife of the late Robert T. Stuckert, loving mother of Robert D. (Denise Gallagher) Stuckert, Bruce (Patty) Stuckert, Betsy (Tom) Lyons, Barbara (Bob) Rahr and the late William Stuckert, sister of Donna Lee Lewis and the late Duane Davis, grandmother of Greg and Kevin Lyons, Julie and Courtney Rahr, also 6 step-grandchildren.

A retired elementary school teacher for Chartiers Valley School District and was active with the Bethany Quilters.

Reverend Keith Eugene Mong, age 70, of Franklin and formerly of Knox, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at his home.

Born October 7, 1943 in Knox, he was a son of the late Harold and Dorothy Adams Mong.

He was a graduate of Keystone High School in Knox and furthered his education at Grove City College, graduating Summa cum Laude. Keith finished his degree at the Evangelical School of Theological Seminary in Myerstown, PA.

On September 28, 1968 in Hubbard, Ohio, he married the former Cheryl Kay Purnell of Emlenton. She preceded him into heaven on October 27, 2011.

Keith was a faithful man of God. He was a minister of the Gospel of Christ in the Evangelical Congregational Church. He, along with his wife, served at Hubbard, OH; Johnstown, PA ; Cedarville, IL; Seneca, PA; Winnebago, IL; Columbia, PA and had just retired this spring from his church in Martindale, PA after serving 46 years of active ministry.

Throughout his life, Keith was actively involved in Christian camping ministry through the Evangelical Church, blending his deep desire for young people to know the Lord and share his great delight of God’s creation. He was a gifted preacher, teacher, writer and poet.

Trips to Honduras provided rich opportunities to minister alongside his daughter, Valerie, to the Honduran people. There he raised up six spiritual granddaughters: Maria, Jhoselyn, Eleni, Johana, Fany and Nadetie.

He passionately loved his family and showed them his love thoroughly.

Keith is survived by three daughters: Valerie Schubert and her husband, Ed, of Honduras; Sharon Thomas and her husband, Lowell, of Franklin and Robin Ace and her husband, Jeff, of Knox.

Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchildren who were his great delight: Wesley Keith, Adam John and Cheyence Patricia Schubert; Robert Moyer and his wife, Laura; Scott Andrew Burke, Jr., Tyler Thomas, Sami Andrea Burke, James Thomas, Kirsten Kaye Hicks, Grant Thomas Ace and Clint Jeffrey Ace, Johnathan Keith Wendell Ace, Jhoselyn Allazanna Ace and Olivia Cheryl Ace and Keith’s first great grandson, Landon Moyer.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded to Heaven by a brother and sister, Larry Mong and Darlene Mong.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service of Triumph is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Bethany Crossroads Evangelical Congregational Church, 721 Crossroads Church Road, Emlenton. Reverend Fred Moury and Reverend Phil Walck will officiate over the service.

In lieu of floral tributes, the family suggests that memorial contributions be given in the name of Keith Eugene Mong to EC Global Missions-Honduran/Schubert Ministries, 100 W. Park Avenue, Myerstown, PA 17067 or Evangelical School of Theological Seminary, 121 South College Street, Myerstown, PA 17067.

Mary E. Adams, 84, of 119 Niles Road ,Franklin died at 4:45 PM ,August 27, 2013 at her residence.

Born September 23, 1928 in Pleasantville, NJ, Mary was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Hasson) Davison.

Mary was employed as a dietary aide for Polk Center for 35 years.

She enjoyed flowers and cooking.

Mary is survived by her son, Larry ‘Mouse’ Adams and his wife, Sue, of Utica; her brother, Harry ‘Skip’ Davison and his wife, Nancy, of Polk; her sister, Dorothy Doutt of Franklin; her grandchildren, Julie Irons and her husband, Kerry, of Franklin, Jason Adams and his wife, Steffanie, of Polk, Jessica Doyle and her husband, Terry, of Utica, and Tammie Holben of Franklin; and her great-grandchildren, Zachary Ray, Emily Irons, Jordan Irons, Jacob Adams, Jayden Adams, Alexa Doyle, Madison Doyle, Sierra Holben, Lilly Holben.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Gerald ‘Spike’ Adams; her four brothers; and her one sister.

Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Friday, August 30th, 2013, from 3:00PM – 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 31st, 2013 at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Daryl Adams retired minister.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Beverly W. Frey, 74, was called home to be with her Savior on Sunday, August 25, 2013.

She was born in Oil City, PA on June 6, 1939, to Morris and Betty (Crouch) Warner. Mrs. Frey was a member of Alameda Bible Church and the Porcelain Arts Club of Albuquerque. She will be remembered as a faithful servant of God, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She was lovingly called “Mom” and “Grandma” by many others. She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Betty Warner. Mrs. Frey is survived by her husband of 53 years, Glenn N. Frey, of Rio Rancho, NM, son, Glenn M. (Nancy) Frey, of Albuquerque, NM, daughter, Beth (Daniel) Pomeroy of Louisville, KY, grandchildren, Katie Frey, Chelsey Pomeroy, and Kyle Pomeroy; sister, Joyce (Donald) Neidich of Oil City, PA. The Viewing and Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Daniels Family Funeral Services – Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho.

Philip R. McDermott

Philip R. McDermott, 88, of West Deer Township passed away August 27, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot.

He was born February 5, 1925 in Pittsburgh to the late Michael and Anne (Taylor) McDermott. Mr. McDermott was a WW II veteran serving in the Navy as a radio man 2nd class. He was assigned to the destroyer escort USS Richard S. Bull that had duties in the South Pacific. Philip was a 1951 graduate of Kent State University, OH. and was employed for 27 years by Allegheny County as a tax assessor, retiring in 1986. Philip then worked as a right of way agent in the Franklin area for the PA Department of Transportation retiring in 1998. He always enjoyed a healthy debate with his family and friends, enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching the Pittsburgh sports teams.

Mr. McDermott is survived by his children Philip J. (Jennifer) McDermott of Chesterfield, VA. and Kelly McDermott of Natrona Heights; grandchildren Jessica Hicks, Michael, Lauren, and Kierra McDermott, Jenna, Morgan, and Breeanna Oravitz; brother George H. McDermott of Sylmar, CA; sister Rose Marie Martin of Moon Township: several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995 Dolores M. McDermott; siblings William T. McDermott and Aimee P. McDermott.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8pm, Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Adam Siemianowski Funeral Home, 179 Starr Rd., Russellton, West Deer Twp. A Christian Funeral Mass will be held 10am Saturday at St. Victor Roman Catholic Church, Bairdford, West Deer Twp. with Rev. Charles Speicher. Philip will be laid to rest next to his wife, Dolores, at Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.

Betty Jane Truitt

truittBetty Jane Truitt, 87, of New Bethlehem, died Wednesday August 28, 2013, at her residence.

Born June 28, 1926, in Deanville Armstrong Co she was the daughter of Floyd and Marvelle (Chestnut) Drayer. Betty married Ralph Howden Truitt on November 16, 1946, they were married for 66 years, he preceded her in death on December 9, 2012.

She had worked at Sylvania and then became a homemaker. She loved to clean and bake. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family and friends. When she was able she attended Distant Baptist Church. Pastor Lyle Westover then made trips to her home to visit the family.

Although gram didn’t have any children of her own, she acted as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and even great grandmother for the last 34 years to Terry and Deb Rupp, Mindi and Judd Gruver, and Nicki and Ben Brinker, Austin and Ethan Ammerman, Cole McHenry, Avery Brinker, and Cheyleigh Gruver.

She was survived by four sisters, Ella Girst of North Carolina, Donna Mogle of Blawnox, Lois Drayer of Indiana, and Vicki Jones of Blairsville, and one brother Bernard Drayer of Brookville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph Howden Truitt, and two sisters, Josephine Dolby and Ruthie Rowley.

Visitation will be on Saturday August 31, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn, funeral services will held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday September 1, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Lyle Westover officiating. Interment will be in the Kellersburg Methodist Cemetery.
