Janice Louise Dumpe

SONY DSCJanice Louise Dumpe, 81, of Hudson, Ohio, formerly of Seneca, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in Hudson, Ohio.

Born September 4, 1932 in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Clayton George and Alyce Irene Warren Sheats.

Mrs. Dumpe was a 1950 graduate of Oil City High School.

On December 9, 1950 she married Edward Frederick Dumpe, who preceded her in death on January 18, 2002.

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church until her marriage when she joined her husband as a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Elizabeth Circle.

Mrs. Dumpe worked at Sears, Roebuck & Co. as a bookkeeper for five years. In 1965, she began to work with her husband in their growing business, Dumpe Auto. Later, she and her husband owned and managed the Seneca Professional Building.

She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed walking with her friends at the Cranberry Mall.

Surviving are her three children, David A. Dumpe and wife Michelle of Northfield OH, Kevin C. Dumpe and wife Pam of Beaver PA, and Valerie L. Greenlee and husband Mark of Shaker Heights OH; eight grandchildren, Jarrod Dumpe and wife Haley of San Antonio TX, Megan Kenworthy and husband Zac of Beverly Hills CA, Adrienne Dumpe of Boston MA, Sam Dumpe and wife Samantha of Westlake OH, Ben Dumpe of Beaver PA, Caitlin Dumpe of Beaver PA, Sarah Okuh and husband Obie of Cleveland Heights OH, and Justin Greenlee and wife Jessica of Tuscaloosa AL; and five great grandchildren, Grayson Dumpe, Reese Dumpe, Noah Dumpe, Isla Kenworthy, and Tessa Okuh.

Also surviving is a sister, Marion Driscoll of Stockton CA.

Mrs. Dumpe was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Janet L. Rogers

Janet L. Rogers, 88, of State Route 428, Oil City, went to be with the Lord at 4:00 AM, Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at her daughter and son-in-law’s home on Wallaceville Road, Titusville.

Born October 20, 1925 in Oakland Township, Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Albert Clare and Pearl (McCurry) Flickner.

On July 29, 1947 Janet married Frederick C. Rogers, who preceded her in death on March 14, 1993.

Mrs. Rogers was a homemaker. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who lived her life for the Lord.

Janet was a 1943 graduate of Franklin High School. She was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. Janet was past President of the United Methodist Women at the church, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the choir. She also volunteered her time at the local school. Janet was a member of the former Oakland Grange, #281, County of Venango and worked at the Manifold in Franklin for a short period of time.

Mrs. Rogers enjoyed singing and quilt making.

Janet is survived by her children, Larry D. Rogers of Oil City, Rev. Timothy M. Rogers and his wife, Shirley of Uniontown, PA; Douglas A. Rogers and his wife, Donna of Cooperstown, and Carla Tarr and her husband, Michael of Titusville; daughter-in-law, Kathy Rogers of Franklin; brother, William (“Bill”) Flickner and his wife, Shelley of Franklin; and her sister, Doris Speer of Franklin.

She is additionally survived by her 14 grandchildren, Evalena L. Rogers of Orlando, FL, Emerick D. Rogers and his wife, Dawn of Lynchburg, VA, Stephanie M. Rogers of Rouseville, Samantha M. Rogers of Rouseville, Adam C. Rogers of Franklin, Joe R. Rogers of Franklin, Ken M. Tarr and his wife, Lisa of Maple Park, Ill, Michelle L. Graham and her husband, Anthony of Raleigh, NC, Dan C. Tarr and his wife, Joanna of Norfolk, VA, Jonathan D. Rogers of Cooperstown, Jennifer R. Rogers of Cooperstown, Janean E. Rogers of Cooperstown, Jorden N. Rogers of Cooperstown, and Jodi A. Major of New Cumberland, PA; and 7 great-grandchildren, Victoria D. Rogers, Miya Elise Sineker, Tucker M. Tarr, Baby girl Tarr, who is expected in April 2014, Kendra N. Major, Brielle L. Major, and Brooke Long.

In addition to her parents and husband, listed above, Janet was preceded in death by her son, Guy C. Rogers on August 25, 2004; brothers, Judd L. Flickner and Roy E. Flickner; and her sister, Iona E. Flickner.

Friends will be received at the Oakland United Methodist Church, 1431 State Route 428, Oil City, PA on Saturday, March 15, 2014, from noon to 3:00 pm. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 3:00 pm on Saturday at the church, with the Rev., Dr. Edward Saxman of the Oakland United Methodist Church, officiating. The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin is handling the arrangements.

Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Ronald M. McClaine

Member_132149Ronald M. McClaine, 73, of Rt. 268 Chicora, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, passed away at 5:37a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Kittanning Care Center.

Mr. McClaine was born in Seybertown on October 6, 1940. He was the son of Francis J. “Frank” and Ada Schotts McClaine. He was a member of St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church in East Brady. He enjoyed wood working, making picture frames, and raising chickens. He was a 1958 graduate of East Brady High School. Ron was employed for 14 years at Rex Hide Incorporated in East Brady and later for 24 years by Indspec Chemical Corporation in Petrolia, retiring in 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet E. Howard McClaine, whom he married at St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church in East Brady on June 1, 1963. Also surviving is a daughter, Ruth E. Cochran and her husband, Brian of Chicora, a daughter-in-law, Penny Switzer McClaine of Rimersburg; four grandchildren, Jeremy McClaine of Pittsburgh, Evan McClaine and his wife, Samantha of Sligo, Colin Cochran of Slippery Rock, and Brittany Cochran of Chicora; three brothers, James and William McClaine of East Brady, and Rodney McClaine and his wife, Lois of North Washington; two sisters, Jean Weibel of Queenstown, and Kathleen Healey and her husband, Jack of Seneca, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in- law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon McClaine, a son, Jeffrey McClaine, four brothers and one sister.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday from the funeral home with the Rev. Mark A. Wallace, pastor of the Chicora Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, and Rev. Jerry W. Pyle, associate church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Eusebius Cemetery, East Brady. James Robert Rimer

Rimer PhotoJames “Jim” Robert Rimer, 85, of Zelienople, PA, formerly of Clarion, PA, entered the presence of the Lord on the morning of March 12, 2014 at The Center for Compassionate Care Canterbury in Pittsburgh, PA.

Jim was born on May 21, 1928 in Rimersburg, PA to Robert Over Rimer and Gertrude Bashline Rimer. He grew up on the Rimer farm in Huey Township and graduated from Union High School in 1946.

He married Barbara Jean Manson on June 5, 1954. They were happily married and best friends for 58 years and raised two children together in Clarion.

Jim served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 as a tank commander at Fort Knox, KY and Fort Hood, TX.

Back in Clarion, Jim worked with Source Incorporated as a salesman in the carpet industry. After over 20 years he retired as the vice president of sales. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of Clarion.

In retirement, Jim and his wife Barbara built a house together in Davenport, FL. They enjoyed time with family and grandchildren, game nights with friends, and they took more than 30 cruises all over the world. They enjoyed cruising so much, they started their own cruise travel agency. Jim was an avid reader, particularly of Civil War history.

After his wife’s passing, Jim returned to western Pennsylvania and joined the Passsavant Retirement Community in Zelienople. He volunteered in the travel office and enjoyed the fellowship of new friends there.

Throughout his life, Jim was always an active member of his local church, attending Sunday school and serving as a teacher and deacon.

He is survived by his son Ken Rimer and fiancée Terri Gooding of Scottsdale, AZ, and his daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Bill Joseph of Darlington, PA. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Michael Rimer of Phoenix, AZ, Alycia Dalbey and husband Jason of Pittsburgh, PA, Laryssa Nilsen and husband Josiah of Augusta, GA, Jessica Rimer of Chicago, IL and Audrianna Cageao and husband Nic of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by three great grandchildren: William Rimer, Joseph Nilsen and Elaina Nilsen.

He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara on December 31, 2012 and by his brother, Ray and three sisters: Lois Manning, Ruth Keefer and Virginia Rimer.

Jim’s life will be celebrated with a memorial at the Seaman Memorial Chapel at Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, PA on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Rimersburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends can make donations in his name to the Passavant Retirement Community. Checks can be made out to Passavant Retirement Community with James Rimer in the memo and mailed to 401 S. Main Street, Zelienople, PA 16063.

Jim always had a song to sing, and his family will remember him as a man of generosity and prayer. James 5:16 “The prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” He will be greatly missed.

Dolores Arlene Whitmer

Dolores Arlene Whitmer, 78, of Licking Twp., Parker passed away at 9:00 AM Wednesday morning (03-12-14) at her residence of natural causes.

Born in Callensburg, Pa. on October 18, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Hazel Fulmer Brenneman.

She was a member of the Callensburg United Methodist Church, and was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Callensburg-Licking Twp. VFD.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she found time to be Democratic committeewoman for the Callensburg-Licking Twp. for over thirty five years.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, formerly of Sligo, now Clarion Chapter.

Dolores was employed by the former Knox Glass of Parker, Gallagher’s Plaza of Callensburg, and enjoyed last employment at Clarview Home at Sligo.

Surviving are her husband, Roy G. Whitmer whom she married October 17, 1953, just one day before her 18th birthday. Also surviving are five children and spouses: Greg (Donna) and Frank (Dotti) Whitmer, all of Callensburg, Tina (Tim) Colwell of Knox, Bradley Whitmer of Callensburg, and Rhoda Roberts of Sandy Lake, Pa.; ten grandchildren: Brian, Justin, Megan, Jordan, and Aaron Whitmer, Casey and Brandi Colwell, Nicole and Cody Wadding, and Levi Roberts; two great-grandchildren: Cami Colwell and Kaylee Beichner; one sister: Shirley Campbell of Clarion; one brother: Eugene (Erma) Brenneman of Sharpsville, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral will be private. Interment will be at 10:00 AM Monday at Callensburg Cemetery.

Paul A. Burford

Paul A. Burford, 84, of Oak Ridge, died Friday morning March 14, 2014, at the Jefferson Manor. He was born February 2, 1930, in Climax, and was the son of Albert Roy and Florence Bell (Hetrick) Burford. He was married October 20, 1960, to Gail M. (Murray) Burford. She survives.

He worked at Pullman Standard as a crane operator, and also was a carpenter. He was a member of the First Church of God in New Bethlehem.

Paul served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by one son, Dana Burford and wife Patti of Templeton; one daughter, Kelly Alwine and husband Alan of Oak Ridge; four grandchildren, Seth Burford, Nicole Burford, Josh Anthony and wife Stephanie and Nathan Anthony; one sister, Kay Hepler and husband Gale of Oak Ridge; two brothers, Malcolm ”Mack” Burford and wife Dawn, and Neal Burford and wife Clydine all of Oak Ridge; and two sister-in-laws, Pat Burford of Oak Ridge and Mary Ferringer of Hawthorn.

He was preceded in death by both parents; three sisters, Ethel Horne, Alva Neiswonger, Anna Mae Evans; and four brothers, Cleo “Jock” Burford, Warren Burford, Tom Burford, and Wilmer “Bill” Burford.

Visitation will be on Monday March 17, 2014, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.  Funeral services will be held on Monday March 17, at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor John Phillips officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mahoning Twp., Armstrong County.

Maxine L. Orr

Maxine L. Orr, 93, of New Bethlehem, died March 13, 2014 at the McKinley Health center in Brooville. She was born November 25, 1920 in Putneyville to Oliver H. and Lettie (Smith) Shreckengost. She married Robert G. Orr April 15, 1944, at the First Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Florida, and he preceded in her in death on October 22, 1985.

Maxine was co-owner of Char-Val Candies in New Bethlehem, she was a member of the Putneyville United Methodist Church, Red Hats Society, New Bethlehem Chapter #230 order of the Eastern Star and the Quester’s club. She loved to travel, going to the beach, telling her stories, and always having a quick sense of humor. Maxine was the last surviving member of her immediate family

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband Bob, and six brothers; Howard, Walter, Stanley, Ted, Daniel and Russell Shreckengost.

Visitation will be on Saturday March 15, 2014 from 3 to 8 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor   John Phillips officiating, Entombment will be in the New Bethlehem Cemetery Mausoleum.

Charles L. (Charlie) Black

Charles L. (Charlie) Black, 69, of Snyder Rd., Titusville, died peacefully at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Black was born November 23, 1944 in Warren, PA. He graduated from Warren High School.

Charlie was a veteran of the Vietnam War having been inducted into the U.S. Army May 19, 1967 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He served with the 101st Airborne Division. Charlie received the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. He was honorably discharged January 17, 1969 at Oakland, California with the rank specialist fifth class.

He was formerly employed with Conrail for 15 years and later with Lukasiak Construction of Oil City for over 23 years.

Charlie was a life member of Bruce Shorts VFW Post 5958 and Brokenstraw Hunting and Fishing Club. He enjoyed hunting fishing, camping, golfing and spending time with his many family and friends. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his granddaughters.

Survivors include his wife Margaret See Black whom he married July 23, 1966 at Hydetown; a daughter Shelly Proper and her husband Daniel Proper, III, of Titusville; two granddaughters, Grace Proper and Kait Proper of Titusville; a sister Hazel Kabassak and her husband Jim of Spartansburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by eight siblings.

No public visitation will be observed. A private funeral service will be conducted at the convenience of the family from Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home, Inc., 203 E. Main St., Titusville. Interment will be in Curry Cemetery.

Member_132192Rosemary Troese, 83, of Clarion, passed away Friday March 14, 2014, at the Clarion Hospital.

Born October 19, 1930 in Jefferson County; she was the daughter of Walter R. and Laura A. Allshouse Priester.

She was married on February 1, 1951 to the late Victor Troese.

She worked for Sylvania in Brookville in the payroll department and later she worked in the office and as a hostess for her family business, The Captain Loomis in Clarion.

Rosemary was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the American Legion Post 066 in Clarion.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Vicki Rose Troese Walker and her husband Keith of New Jersey, John (Jack) Troese and his wife Thizbea of Clarion, and Mike Troese and his wife Ann of Clarion; Seven Grandchildren, Grace, Emily, Victor, & Michael Troese and Anthony, Thomas Sarvey & Alex Struble. A brother, Gary Martin Moore of Arizona; A sister, Iva Marie (Patty) Moore of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-father, Harold Moore; and her husband, Victor.

Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. & 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Monday March 17, 2014, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion with Father Monty Sayers Pastor as presider. Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Ronald R. “Moose” Moser

Ronald R. “Moose” Moser, 53, of 68 Rockwood Ave, Oil City, died at 6:46 am, Thursday, March 13, 2014, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born March 19, 1960 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Marlene Timcho Nepereny and the late Joseph D. Moser.

Moose worked as a driver at Four Star Pizza.

He enjoyed fishing, playing computer games, boating, but most of all gambling at the casinos and bingo.

Surviving are his mother Marlene Nepereny; his wife, Casandra Hutnik; a daughter, Nicole Stromyer; two grandchildren, Mara and Alexa Stromyer; a brother, Dino Passione; and a sister, Carol Gross.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Moser and Joseph Moser, Jr.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 4:00 pm Monday in the Morrison Funeral Home.

Barbara R. Hiles

Barbara R. Hiles, 82, of Chicora, PA, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospice of Cabot, PA with her family by her side.

She was born May 19, 1931 in Warren, PA, the daughter of Norman H. Rieder, Sr. and Elzora Marie (Buzzard) Rieder.

Barb was a lifetime resident of the area, growing up in Bruin and later moving to Chicora. She was a member of the Chicora United Methodist Church. After graduating from Bruin High School, she attended the Butler Business School and graduated in 1950. She was employed as an Executive Assistant to the Personnel Manager for Witco (Sonneborn) for 30 years until her retirement in 1997. While Barb was an avid golfer, she also enjoyed bowling and exercising with her Silver Sneakers friends. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters who were the pride of her life. Barb will be best remembered for her kind and generous heart and selfless character, always taking care of everyone else before herself.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Linda L. Hiles, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Dixie L. Laidlaw, of Saxonburg; granddaughters, Whitney and Brooke Laidlaw; and sister, Dixie L. Cooper and husband, Richard, of Harrisburg.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Butch, Jim and Bud Rieder.

Relatives and friends may visit from 12 PM until the time of funeral services at 1 PM on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 102 S. Argyle Street, Petrolia, with Pastor Ali Fisher officiating.

Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia, PA.

Janet Faye (Shoup) Grove

Janet Faye (Shoup) Grove, 66, of Manor Drive, Grove City, Pine Township, Mercer County, passed away at home Thursday evening, March 13, 2014 in the arms of her loving husband, Dale, following a brief illness.

In accordance with Janet’s final wishes, a private funeral service officiated by the Rev. Daniel R. Myers, pastor of St. Petersburg United Methodist Church, was held on Sunday afternoon at the Hile Funeral Home Inc. in St. Petersburg. Following the service interment took place at St. Petersburg Cemetery.

Janet was born in St. Petersburg, Clarion County, on November 15, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence L. and Ethel Ketner Shoup.

Janet was a 1965 honor graduate of Emlenton High School in the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Clarion University in 1969 where she was a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society. Janet went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1971 from Clarion University. Janet was employed as an elementary teacher in the Valley Grove School District at Franklin and taught at Rocky Grove Elementary from 1969 – 1976. She loved her teaching days and enjoyed many wonderful memories of her students and co-workers.

On December 20, 1975 Janet married Dale R. Grove at the Saint Petersburg United Methodist Church, and the couple shared 38 years of married life and resided in the Grove City Area.

Janet enjoyed being a homemaker and loved vegetable gardening and flowers, canning, freezing, baking, and lawn care. She was an active church member and enjoyed participating in the women’s group with mission projects and serving in various offices. She was the church pianist and choir accompanist at Center Presbyterian Church in Grove City for many years. From the seventh grade through college Janet was the pianist for Sunday School and church at the St. Petersburg United Methodist Church.

Janet is survived by her beloved husband, Dale R.Grove; five siblings, Betty M. Weeter of Clarion; Lawrence Richard Shoup and his wife, Darla, of Shippenville, Robert K. Shoup and his wife, Marilyn, of Butler, Kenneth R. Shoup and his wife, Peggy, of Grove City, and Ronald E. Shoup and his wife, Alice, of Oil City; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Dave Fitzgerald of Grove City, as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and two great great nephews.

It was Janet’s request that any memorial donations be used to benefit children, whether it be by buying clothing, taking children out to lunch, or contributing to any cause that serves to benefit children.

Patricia A. Campbell

Patricia A. Campbell, 83 of 1212 Chestnut St. Franklin passed away on Friday March 14, 2014 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born December 4, 1930 in Clintonville, she was a daughter of the late Park M., Sr. and Vivian McKean Matthews.

She graduated in 1948 from Rocky Grove High School.

Mrs. Campbell was retired from Franklin Steel after 32 years.

She was an active member of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Women’s Club of Franklin and the Franklin Towers Senior Center.

She had been previously married to Donald Campbell and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by her sons, Mark L. Campbell of California and Eric M. Campbell and his wife, Vera of Corry; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Angelique, Jennifer, Eric II, Matthew, Scott, Josh, and Monica and several great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a brother, Park Matthews Jr., of Kennerdell; sisters, Janet Moyer and her husband Jay of Leesburg, FL, and Melanie McGinnis and her husband Dennis of Franklin and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Sutton and her husband, Delbert Sutton and a sister-in-law Doris Matthews.

Family and friends welcome Tuesday from 3:00-6:00 P.M. at Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin.

Funeral services will follow at 6:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sue Nageotte, Pastor of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will follow Wednesday morning at Clintonville Cemetery.

craig-o-connor-obituaryCraig O’Connor, 67 of Franklin passed away Saturday morning March 15, 2014 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, following a lengthy illness.

Born May 16, 1946 in Franklin, he was the son of Charlotte Dodd O’Connor and the late Dalton O’Connor.

He was a 1964 graduate of Franklin High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh and Robert Morris University.

Craig loved boating at Conneaut Lake, hunting and was also a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Craig was a kind and admirable man who liked people and people liked him.

He worked for AIG in the Pittsburgh area and then was transferred to the Cleveland area. Upon returning to Franklin, he formed his own company, O’Connor Sign and Equipment. He then began to build his real estate business, CRO Enterprises that offered rental units throughout the area.

He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin.

Craig is survived by his wife, Lorna O’Connor of Franklin.

Also surviving in addition to his mother is a sister, Shirley Fagley and her husband Richard of New Bethlehem; three nieces, Christie Svolos and her husband George of Oil City, Brenda Henry and her husband Joe of New Bethlehem, and Barbara Avarello and her husband Brian of Hinckley, OH; six great nieces; a step son, Robert McClimans of New York, NY and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elaine and J. Robert Moore of Clarion.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Craig Ryan O’Connor and a great-nephew, Nicholas Avarello.

Family and friends are welcome Tuesday from 3-7 P.M. at Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sam Wagner, Associate Pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery.

Member_132260Christine Mary (Boyd) Krem, 63, of Clarion, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at her home.

Born on November 29, 1950 in Oil City, PA; she was the daughter of Milton A. and Patricia M. (Richardson) Boyd.

She was married for 24 years to Barry Z. Kerm of St. Louis, who preceded her in death.

Christine was a graduate of North Clarion Schools and Slippery Rock State College with a degree in Education. She and her husband worked together running their own business in St. Louis for many years. After her husband’s death Christine returned to the Clarion area to live.

She is survived by a daughter, Carey B. Engle of St. Louis and a son, Frank H. B. Engle of Clarion. Also surviving are three sisters, Judith Harris and husband, Donald, of Woodhaven, MI, Paula Bowersox and husband, Bob, of Clarion and Elizabeth McCray of Corry, PA; and her parents-in-law, David and Bebe Krem of St. Louis

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother-in-law, Thomas McCray.

There will be no visitation. A private memorial for the family will be held at a later date.

Rose Lucille Batina, 78, of Punxsutawney died suddenly, March 14, 2014 at her residence. She was born April 7, 1935 in Timblin, the daughter of Nicholas and Sophia (Miholich) Batina.

Rose was a caretaker of her parents.

She is survived by two sisters; Barbara J. and husband John R. Facemyer of Canfield, Ohio and Sophia Batina of Brookville, and one brother Joseph J. Batina of Warren, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by; both parents, and three brothers; Paul, John, and Nicholas Batina, and four sisters; Annie Maietta, Agnes Muia, Frances Hetrick and Mary Maxwell.

Friends will be received Thursday March 20, 2014 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., a memorial service will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Father Sam Bungo officiating.

Interment will be in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in New Bethlehem.

Robert P. Woolston passed away on March 13, 2014 at age 79 years in Ocala, FL.

He was predeceased by parents, Loren and Rachel Woolston and his first wife, Evelyn Boothby Woolston. He is survived by his wife, Esther “Carol” Woolston, stepdaughters, Julie (Jeff) Whitling, Brenda Blair, stepson, Bill Boothby and their families, brother, Richard (Nancy) Woolston, nephews, David and Steven Woolston, niece, Carol Ratcliffe and their families, several cousins.

Bob was born in Rochester, moved to Geneseo in 1947 where he lived until moving to Ocala in 2001. He was a graduate of Geneseo Central School and attended Hobart College and SUNY Brockport prior to serving in the U.S. Army in the post Korean War era. He leaves behind many close friends in Geneseo, Pennsylvania and Florida. He had owned several small shops in Western New York and Pennsylvania. For many years he was an avid golfer at Livingston Country Club in Geneseo and Caledonia Country Club.

Memorial Services will be announced in the spring by Rector-Hicks Funeral Home in Geneseo. Interment, Fairfield Cemetery in Spencerport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Geneseo Ambulance Fund, PO Box 428, Geneseo, NY 14454.

Elaine Christine Shevchik, 60, Ebensburg, passed away March 18, 2014, at home.

Born Sept. 18, 1953, in Oil City, daughter of the late Elmer and Isabelle (Halkiewicz) Drelick. Survived by loving husband of 33 years, Joseph Shevchik; and only daughter, Heather Shevchik-O’Brien, Center Valley. Also survived by sister, Margaret Martis, West Chicago, Ill. Elaine was a member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church and a graduate of Penn State University.

She had been employed by Central Cambria Elementary School, and loved to volunteer her time at St. Vincent de Paul Society. She loved fishing on Lake Erie and spending time with her family. Elaine also loved shopping and could always find a sale.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Askew- Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Monsignor David Lockard, celebrant. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Oil City.

Nancy Lee Ditzenberger, 64, of 419 Belmar Road, Franklin died at 11:23 AM Monday ,March 17, 2014 at UPMC-Northwest Seneca.

Born September 21, 1949 in Franklin, Nancy was the daughter of the late Clarence and Eleanor L. (Phenicie) Ritchey.

Prior to her retirement, Nancy was employed as an Aide at The Caring Place.

Nancy is survived by her sons, Michael Ditzenberger and Eric Ditzenberger both of Franklin; her daughters, Tina Velasquez and her husband Hector of Woodbridge, VA and Billy Jo Beckwith and her husband, Ken, of Rose Pine, LA; her four brothers; her six sisters; and her five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Ruth Coffey.

Services for Nancy will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
