Keith Rayburn “Red” Goheen, of Rehoboth Road, Strattanville, passed away peacefully at home on June 10, 2014. He was 85 years old.
Born on September 4, 1928 in South Bethlehem, Armstrong County, he was the son of the late John Edward and Margaret Elizabeth (Pence) Goheen. He attended the Strattanville School. Red enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War and was discharged after 4 years of service.
On November 26, 1952, he married Roma Fay Leadbetter. They were married for 56 years before she preceded him in death on April 23, 2009.
Red was employed as a mechanic for many years with Hanley Brick in Summerville. He enjoyed the outdoors, working on lawn mowers, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Strattanville Post 249 of the American Legion for 57 years.
Red is survived by his daughters, Sheila Thompson and her husband William, and Sharla Blake and her husband Robert; his grandchildren, Rebecca Coull and her husband John, Amy Ball and her husband Caleb, Kelsey Thompson and Amanda Blake and her partner Colby Shearer; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jesica, and Gabe. Red is also survived by his brothers, Paul and his wife Dorian, and William “Jiggs” and his wife Carol; his sisters, Leona Beers and her husband Henry, Donna Beary, and Carol Amsler and her husband Don.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Red was preceded in death by his daughters, Shawna Servey and Sharman Mary Goheen; sisters Helen Bauer, Marcella Goheen; and his brother Edward “Shang” Goheen.
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street, Clarion where visitation will be held from1:00 until 2:00pm on Thursday, June 12, to be followed by funeral services at 2:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. James Dietrich, pastor of New Rehoboth – Greenville Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in the New Rehoboth Cemetery.
