Patty Ardell Sharp, 75, of Oil City, died at 4:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at her home following a brief illness, surrounded by loving family.
She was born February 27, 1939 in Oil City to the late Ira and Alice (Lockhart) Dunkle.
She attended Cranberry Schools.
Mrs. Sharp was of the protestant faith.
Patty enjoyed going out to eat with her husband, traveling locally and taking drives simply to sight-see. She also enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was married in Pine City on March 3, 1954 to Hubert Winfield Sharp, and he survives.
Also surviving are two children, Beverly Beach and her husband John of Oil City; and William Sharp and his wife Heather of Oil City; six grandchildren, Tammy Bodien of Oil City, Karen Kapp and husband Ryan of Oil City, Sheila Howard and husband Jamie of Centerville, Faith Sharp and Billie Jo Sharp, both of Erie, and Steven Sharp of Oil City; great-grandchildren include: Ashley and Jessica Bodien, Zachary Proper, Makayla, Alyssa, and John Kapp, Sean and Sara Shook, Jamie and Kaylee Howard, Logan Dean and Tiger Hollingsworth, Anthony Williams, Jordan Oberg, and Joleena and Kayonya Gamble; and one great-great-grandchild, Aubree Colburn.
Also surviving is her brother, Richard Dunkle and wife Jane; four sisters, Violet Karns, Betty O’Neil and husband James, Shirley Boggs and husband Edger, and Ruth Ann Anderson and husband Larry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Dunkle; and two sisters, Rose M. Hutchinson and Mary Ann Welsh.
Friends will be received Monday (June 16) from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Larry Rapp will officiate.
Entombment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Cranberry.
