Paul J. Guisewite, 75, of 144 Meadville Pike Franklin (a native of Huey) died at 5 PM Friday August 9, 2013 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born in Huey, Clarion Co. he was the son of Paul H. and Valjean Bobbert Guisewite. Paul graduated in 1955 from Zelinople High School and then began his career in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1972 as a Chief Petty Officer. He then worked for a number of years at Bell South in Altoona. He was a Protestant. Paul was an active member of the VFW and Moose Lodge, both in Franklin. He enjoyed doing puzzles and visits from family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. Paul was married in 1957 to Ellen Bowser and she died in 1989.
He is survived by a daughter Paula J. Guisewite of Mt. Eden, KY and a son Bradford D. Guisewite and his wife Karen of Newport News, VA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Marie Perrine, Preston Guisewite and Hannah Guisewite, greatgranddaughter Liza Perrine and many cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his children Paul Guisewite and Gwendolyn Johnsson. Paul’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday August 13, 2013 at the Varner Funeral Home, 1632 Bald Eagle St. Sligo.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11 AM Wednesday August 14, from the funeral home with the Rev. Brad Riddle, pastor of the Atlantic Ave. United Brethren Church in Franklin, officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarview Memorial Park near Strattanville.
