Stephen Lewis Stephens, 62, of 1635 Pittsburgh Road, Franklin died at 12:05 p.m. on August 08, 2013 at his residence.
Born August 18, 1950 in Akron, OH, Steve was the son of the late Jack R. and Maxine (Betz) Stephens.
He was a Vietnam War Era Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1971-1976. He was stationed in Darmstadt, Germany and was a member of the 68th Single Battalion.
Steve was employed as a butcher for the Bi-Lo and Riverside grocery store chains until his retirement.
He was a member of the Franklin Moose Lodge, No. 83. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and archery. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed socializing.
Steve is survived by his sons, Jason Stephens of Clarion and Greg Stephens of Harrisburg; his sister, Stephanie Sue Van and her husband, David of Pittsburgh; and his five grandchildren, Brittany Stephens of Mineral Ridge, OH, Brandon Stephens of Oil City, Kristopher Stephens of Franklin, Jacalynne Stephens of Franklin, and Cheyenne Cook of Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin is handling the arrangements.
Interment will be in the Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, at the family’s convenience.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to help defray costs.
