Betty K. Dinger, age 87, of New Bethlehem, passed away Monday morning, August 12, 2013 at Brookside Senior Living in Brookville.
Born April 26, 1926 in Johnstown, she was a daughter of the late Dale and Hazel Nolf Braughler.
She married Arnold C. Dinger on May 16, 1946. He survives.
Betty owned and operated a school bus for the Redbank Valley School District of 20 years and also owned Dinger Rentals.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem and was also a member of the Red Hats and the New Bethlehem Civic Club. In earlier years, she was a member of the Jolly Jills and a Cub Scout leader.
Betty enjoyed spending time and entertaining friends at her house on the Allegheny River, snowmobiling and driving Santa in one of her convertibles in the New Bethlehem Christmas Parade.
She was a collector and admirer of unique automobiles and loved yard sales and antiques.
In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by two sons: Dennis A. Dinger and his wife, Patti, of South Carolina and Ernest J. Dinger of New Bethlehem; four grandchildren: Amber, Aric, Shawna and Clay Dinger and a brother and sister: James Braughler and his wife, Shirley, of New Bethlehem and Mary Lou Skinner and her husband, Skip, of Muskegon, Michigan.
She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mildred Wolfgang and her husband, Harry, of New Bethlehem and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel at 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 in the funeral home chapel. Reverend Jodie Smith, a pastor of the Redbank Valley United Methodist Ministry, will officiate over the service.
Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery on Beautiful Lookout, Armstrong County.
