Eleanor Dreibelbis Yargar, 99, of Pittsbugh, formerly of Martin Str., Oil City, went to be with her Lord on Monday August 12, 2013.
Born January 19, 1914, in Emlenton, she was the daughter of the late John and Amy (Boyer) Dreibelbis. On April 12, 1941 Eleanor married John F. Yargar in Venus, PA. Before his passing on August 20, 2001, they celebrated 60 years together. Eleanor graduated from Emlenton High School in 1931 then went on to graduate from Clarion Normal School. After graduation her early teaching years were spent in rural schools of lower Venango county, she then taught for the Oil City School District from which she retired in 1976. Eleanor was a Sunday school teacher at the Old Zion United Methodist Church in Emlenton where she also served as a communion steward for many years. She was a member of the National Education Association and enjoyed quilting and other handiwork and most of all spending time with her family.
Eleanor is the beloved mother of a son John (Mary Joan) Yargar of DuBois, and a daughter Margaret “Peggy” (W. Robert) Ament of Murrysville, PA, and the beloved grand mother of five granddaughters, two grandsons, nine great granddaughters, and two great grandsons. Also surviving are three brothers Paul M. Dreibelbis of Emlenton, John A. (Violet) Dreibelbis of Wattsburg, and C. Philip (Gerry) Dreibelbis of North Tonawanda, NY. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters Lois Stephens Rutherford and Ruth Dreibelbis McMurdy, a sister in law Florence Kerr Dreibelbis and several other brother and sister in laws.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2:30 PM, Sunday August 18, 2013, at the Old Zion United Methodist Church, 1792 West Home Rd, Emlenton PA. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM in the church with pastor Dustin Bingham officiating. Interment will follow at the Zion Union Cemetery.
