Darlene Custer, 56, of Grove City passed away August 26, 2013 at the Grove City Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 22, 1957 in Grove City she was the daughter of the late Clarence E. Alcorn Sr., and Wilda Barker Alcorn. Darlene received her education from Franklin High School. She was employed at the AC-Valley High School as a nurses aid. Darlene was a member of the American Legion Post 220 in Grove City. She loved to spend time outside whether it was taking care of her horses or enjoying her gardens. She had a vegetable gardens along with flower beds. Her grandchildren where the loves of her life and enjoyed spending time with all of them. Darlene also liked to play Bingo, even threw her treatments she would go and play with her friends. Her companion Manny Cabral and herself would co-drive across the county in there semi truck. She saw a lot of the United States while traveling with Manny. Darlene loved to take her grandson Nick fishing also.
Surviving are three children, Amanda Custer, Stephanie Bowen and Thomas Custer all of Grove City. Her companion Manual Cabral of Harrisville. 2 sisters Juanita Gothe and her husband Craig of Barkeyville, Brenda York of Mercer. 2 brothers Harry Alcorn of Eau Claire and Larry Alcorn and his wife Virginia of VA. A sister in law Linda Alcorn of Harrisville. 5 grandchildren Nicholas Robinson, Avery and Allana Mazon and Ebon and Vaeda Custer. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death in addition to her parents are a brother Clarence “Ed” Alcorn II, and a nephew Samuel York. Family will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Clintonville on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm funeral services will take place at 1:00 with the Pastor Scott Kifer officiating from the Church of God of Prophecy in Leesburg.
