Janet A. Preston, 72 of East Brady died Wednesday July 17, 2013 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born May 1, 1941 in Petrolia, she was the daughter of Stanley W. “Tucker” and Isabelle (Wenner) Simpson.
Janet graduated from Fariview/Karns City High School in 1959 and Grove City College in 1963 with a degree in Business Administration. She taught business for 2 years at Brookville High School and then for 33 years with the Armstrong County School District. Most of those years were spent teaching at East Brady High School.
Janet enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, traveling, bowling and golf. She was a member at St. Jude Golf Club in Chicora for many years and was especially proud of her Hole-in-One on #4. Janet was also the golf coach at East Brady High School for 8 years, leading the Bulldogs to their only league championship.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in East Brady where she served on the church session and was a past elder. She also was a member of the Stewardship Committee.
Janet is survived by one son Patrick Preston and his wife Pamela of East Brady. 1 Grandson Tucker Preston and 1 granddaughter Shanel Preston both of East Brady. 1 Brother James Simpson and wife Inez of Chicora, 1 Sister Diana Steffan of Butler.
She is also survived by 3 nephews, Steve Simpson, Tray and Quay Steffan, and her companion Dick Preston of Chicora.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronald “Hummer” Preston, and 1 brother in law Donald Steffan.
Friends of Janet A. Preston will be received 2-4, 6-8pm Sunday July 21, 2013 at the Charles B. Buechele Funeral Home 105 4th Street East Brady, PA 16028
Funeral services will be held 11am Monday July 22, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church, East Brady with Rev. Raymond Eichler officiating.
Private burial will follow in St. Eusebius Cemetery.
