William “Bill” Riddle, 88, died Friday, February 7, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House.
He was born in Clintonville, PA on October 31, 1925 and relocated to S.C. in 1976.
Mr. Riddle was the son of the late Lon Edward and Ethel Cross Riddle. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII in the Atlantic and South Pacific. He was fire chief for several years of the Clintonville Fire Department in Clintonville, PA.
Mr. Riddle was retired from William Riddle Excavating Construction whose work was primarily in the northeastern United States. He was a member of the Union Grove United Methodist Church and of Williamston American Legion Post 121.
Surviving are children, Barry Riddle, Robert Riddle, Bruce Riddle; step-children, Lynda, Robert, Mary Alice, Rob, Jodi; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-two great – grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Griffin; Patricia Harling, a wonderful caretaker for seven and a half years; loving friend, Holly Fornash.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson with the Rev. Louise Carter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
