Martha M. Dunkle, 90, of Callensburg, passed away on February 11, 2014 at the Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on May 31, 1923 in Perryville, Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Irene (Reichart) Say.
After she graduated from Parker High School in 1942, Martha moved to Philadelphia where she worked as a civilian typist for the United States Army Signal Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1946. Martha then attended Clarion State Teacher’s College and the Pennsylvania State University, studying education and home economics. In 1963, she went to work for the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry doing office work for 17 years.
On December 22, 1949, she married Gerald E. Dunkle, who survives. Martha is also survived by one son, Thomas Dunkle and his wife Barbara of Mechanicsville, NY; a granddaughter, Maryellen, of Troy, NY; a grandson, Gordon, of Colonie, NY; a sister, Margaret Hamilton, of Raleigh, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or memorial services.
