William L. Wesner, 79, of Knox died Friday July 19, 2013 of a sudden illness while hiking in the Black Moshannon State Forest.
Born August 20, 1933, in Wellsvile NY, he was the son of the late Wayne and Roberta (Lain) Wesner.
William was a graduate of Keystone High School and the Clarion University. He then went on to work for the Pennsylvania Department of Environment Protection for 36 years. William was a member of the North Country Trail Association and the Scrubgrass Creek Watershed Association.
On August 27, 1977 William married Dorothy Timmis and she survives.
Along with his wife William is survived by three children Vincent W. Wesner of Rochester NY, Patricia W. Rex of Shippenville, PA, John H. Wesner of Mt Dora, FL, a sister Molly w. Courson of Clarion, two brothers in law Harold E. Timmis of Pauline, SC, John Timmis of Waynesburg, PA, and two sisters in law Wanda T. Shadle of Gainsville, GA, and Rebecca T. Breidinger of Huston TX. Also surviving are nephews Timothy Courson and Jeffery Courson both of Clarion, four grandchildren John Alden Wesner, Vanessa W. Kelly, D. Mitchell Rex, Michelle Gibson, several other nieces and nephews and nine great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents William was preceded in death by three brothers in law Robert Courson, Robert Henc, Howard Breidinger and two sisters in law Janet Henc and Jessie Timmis.
A private memorial service will be held by the family. The McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
