Jean Ann Hanford-Fitzgerald

Jean Ann Hanford-Fitzgerald, age 69, of Shippenville, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, in Shippenville.

Born December 19, 1944 in Brookville, she was the daughter of the late C.D. “Tom” and Faye McKinley Hanford.

Ms. Fitzgerald was a graduate of Clarion High School and Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh.

She worked in the Pentagon for the Defense Intelligence Agency, in Washington, D.C. She also worked at The Space Technology Lab (TRW) in Redondo Beach, California, with NATO Top Secret Clearances. Space projects included the Pioneer and Voyager Launches.

She was a 50 year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarion.

She is survived by one son, Todd Wilson of Long Beach, California; two daughters, Janna Fitzgerald-Price and her husband, Lee, of Pensacola, Florida, and Julie Fitzgerald-Greene and her husband, John, of Highland Beach, Florida; and four grandchildren, Tyler, Mason, and Sean Wilson, and Jameson Price.

Also surviving are her brother, Tom Hanford and his wife, Branka, of Boca Raton, Florida; sister Marian Hinz of Boca Raton, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by the father of her children, James “Billy” Leo Fitzgerald; a sister, Esther Laughlin; two brothers-in-law, Bill Laughlin and Walter Hinz; a niece, Karen Kolhagen; and a nephew, Bill Laughlin.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.

At the family and Jean’s request, there will be no viewing or services.

Interment will be the Clarion Cemetery.
