William “Rick” Miller Sr.

William “Rick” Miller Sr.,59, of 192 Lawsonham St. Rimersburg died at 1:15 PM Friday May 2, 2014 at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Butler on September 19, 1954, he was the son of William H. and June Flick Miller. Rick was a lifelong resident of Rimersburg and graduated from Union High School in 1972. He was married to the former Elizabeth “Libby” Craig on July 12,1974 and she survives.

In his younger years, Rick operated the former Pennzoil in Rimersburg, worked on the railroad a few years for Conrail, 10 years in the mines for R&P Coal Co., and he retired in 2012 as Admissions Director after 18 years of service with the Sugarcreek Rest Home near Chicora. He was a faithful member of the Rimersburg United Methodist Church and an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In addition to his wife Lib, Rick is survived by 2 sons and their wives, Rick Jr. and Tricia Miller of Shippenville and Matthew and Kelly Miller of Davidson, NC; 2 daughters and their husbands, Brianne and Eric Ochs of Rimersburg and Courtney and Tyler DeSanto of Hawthorn; 7 grandchildren and 1 brother Randy “Pizza” Miller and his wife Beth of West Pittsburgh. He is also survived by his aunt Martha Sweeney of Petrolia, many in-laws, cousins, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday May 5, 2014 at the Varner Funeral Home, 1632 Bald Eagle St. in Sligo. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday May 6, 2014 from the Rimersburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Fetter, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery.
