Hazen “Knute” D. Doutt

Hazen “Knute” D. Doutt, 85, of Crawford Avenue, Polk died at 5:30 AM Friday ,May 2, 2014 at Sugar Creek Station.

Born May 27, 1928 in Polk, Hazen was the son of the late Claude and Olive B. (Armstrong) Doutt.

Knute was a graduate of Stoneboro High School.

On January 1, 1952 he married Florence “Jean” Hawthorne, who survives.

Knute proudly served his country in The Army during the Korean War era.

He retired from Joy Manufacturing after 18 years as an IBM Operator. Knute was also a superintendent for PennDOT and an administrative assistant for United Data.

He was a member of Polk United Methodist Church, the Myrtle Lodge #316, Oil Valley Lodge of Perfection, and the Washington Club..

Knute was always looking for ways to spend time at his hunting camp in Tionesta. Five Bear Camp was built by him, his father, and his brothers. Along with camp, Knute enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada with family and friends, hunting squirrel and coon with his dogs, horse shows, and driving his truck.

In addition to his wife Jean, Hazen is survived by his sons, David A. Doutt and his wife, Mary, of Titusville and Dana R. Doutt and his wife Jody of Utica; his daughter, Nancy J. Stamm and her husband, Gary of Palmyra, PA; his brother, James E. Doutt and his wife, Doris of Polk; his brother-in-laws, Lewis Sandieson, and Dave Hawthorne and his wife, Penny; his sister-in-laws, Lorys Green and her husband, Donald, and Connie Hawthorne.

He is additionally survived by his grandchildren, Tierney Doutt, Carolyn Rogers, Tom Collins, Tristan Doutt, Tara Doutt, Tyson Doutt, Christina Finegan, Cody Doutt, Scott Sloss, Melissa Patrick, Justin Sloss, Justin Stamm, and Adriane Felmlee; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jacob Ryan Doutt; his brothers, Howard and Harold; and his sisters, Eleanore Adams, Marie Dickens, and Lois Kirkpatrick.

Services for Knute will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Old Sandy Cemetery.

In Hazen’s memory, memorial donations may be made to Polk Volunteer Fire Department, 710 Main Street, Polk, PA 16342 and/or the Polk United Methodist Church, 715 Main Street, Polk, PA 16342.
