Darl Leroy Emings

Darl Leroy Emings, age 70, of New Bethlehem passed away Friday evening, May 2, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a sudden illness.

Born August 22, 1943 in Brookville, he was a son of the late Richard and Margaret Trayer Emings.

He married the former Karen L. Hayes on September 28, 1963 and she survives.

Darl was self-employed as the owner and operator of the Hayes Machine Shop in New Bethlehem. He also owned and operated the B & L Skeet Range, also in New Bethlehem.

He was of the protestant faith.

Darl was a member of the Loyal Order of the MOOSE in New Bethlehem and the VFW and R.V. Sportsmen Clubs.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and boating and shared his love of the outdoors with area youth through his involvement with “Fish for Fun” and “Clarion County Youth Field Days.”

Darl loved spending time with his family and enjoyed summers in Rimer along the Allegheny River.

In addition to his wife, Karen, he is survived by their children: Tammy Catlos and her husband, Michael, of Vandergrift and Scott Emings and his wife, Michele, of Hawthorn; three granddaughters: Lauren Lekowak and her husband, David, of Brookville and Brooke Emings and Mikaela Emings, both of Hawthorn.

Darl is also survived by a brother: Joseph Emings and his wife, Shirley, of Strattanville and a sister, Kay Bish of Brookville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father-in-law, Bucky and Gerry Hayes.

Family and friends will be received from 1-4 and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday May 6, 2014 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Ben Shindledecker officiating over the service.

Interment will take place in the New Bethlehem Cemetery.
