Kathleen A. Banks

Kathleen A. Banks of Seneca, passed into the loving arms of the angels on Friday, December 06, 2013.

Born April 24, 1922, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Frank C. McCloskey and Lanora Duncan McCloskey French.

She was a lifelong member of the Seneca United Methodist Church and thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship and friendships she made through her church. She had a wonderful outlook on life and enjoyed it to the fullest.

Her most enjoyable moments were shared with her family at the backyard picnics and all the events her grandchildren were a part of. She loved her pets and thoroughly enjoyed the many dogs she raised over the years.

Kate was one of the original mall walkers at the Cranberry Mall, for many years having logged thousands of miles while walking with her friends.

She was also a member of the Senior Center in Seneca and looked forward to each Monday for lots of laughs, fun and a good meal there.

Kate was employed at Bakers Auto Parts in Seneca for many years from which she retired in 1984.

She also was an active member of the Northwest Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered on a regular basis while her health allowed. Kate often spoke of the wonderful people that volunteer there like Mabel, Cindy and Jo.

On October 4, 1943, she was married to Norman L. Banks. They shared 60 years together until he preceded her in death on January 19, 2002.

Surviving is her son Terry Banks and his wife Rose of Oil City and her grandchildren Shannon K. Jahn (Mike) of Denver, CO and Shelly A. Hart (Colt) of Apex, NC and a great grandchild, Maggie Rose Jahn of Denver who brought a smile to Kate’s face at the mention of her name.

Also surviving is a nephew Ronald Stanford and his wife Shirley of Masury, OH, who held a special place in Kate’s heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son Dennis Wade Banks who died in 1966 at the age of 18 due to a complication from muscular dystrophy. Also preceding her in death are her sisters, Marge Arlene Cumming and Betty Jane Stanford.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Monday, December 9th from 3 to 7 pm.

Funeral service will be conducted at the Seneca United Methodist Church at 11 am Tuesday with Rev. William Hasting officiating.

Interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery.

James E. Hanson

James E. Hanson, 78, of DuBois, formerly of Marienville, Pa., died Thursday, December 5, 2013, at DuBois Nursing Home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1935, in DuBois, the son of Charles and Alta Hanson.

On December 2, 1956, he married the former Sandra Anderson, who preceded him in death in 2004.

Mr. Hanson worked as a PBX repairman for what was Bell Telephone, AT&T and is now Lucent Technology. He was a former small businessman in Marienville dealing in Maytag appliances.

He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting snowshoe rabbit and running dogs.

Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.

Jim was a member of the Fraternal Order of Masons; Coudersport Consistory, Zem Zem Shriners International; the Marienville United Methodist Church; Forest County Veteran’s Club in Marienville; and the Marienville Senior Center.

He was former president of the Marienville Medical Center; former leader of the Boy Scouts; member of the Beartown Beagle Club; formerly active in the Marienville Fire Company; a former deputy Game Protector; and a member of the Retired Bell Telephone Workers.

Surviving are three children: a daughter, Robin Scull and husband Steven of DuBois; and two sons, Brad Hanson and wife Sally Jo of Lower Burrell, and Brian Hanson of Marienville.

Additional survivors include Jim’s companion, Judy Gallaher of Coal Port, as well as three grandchildren: Nicholas Scull of Statesboro, Ga., Zachery Scull of Greensburg, Pa., and Alicia Sites of Newmarket, N.H.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Morrison.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013, at the Ronald McDonald Funeral Home in Marienville, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at the funeral home, with Rev. Daniel Richter, pastor of the Marienville United Methodist Church, presiding.

Private interment will take place at Morning Side Cemetery in DuBois.

Memorials in Jim’s name may be made to the Marienville United Methodist Church or to the Marienville Medical Center.

Shirley M. Winger

Shirley M. Winger 82, of 126 High St. Oil City, died at 4:57 p.m. Friday December 6, 2013 at UPMC-Northwest in Seneca.

Born January 21, 1931 in Vanderfrift, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Wayne & Hazel Shook McAninch.

Shirley was a 1951 graduate of the Oil City School of Nursing.

On November 3, 1951 she married John Henry Winger in Our Lady Help of Christians Church and he preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 2001.

Shirley had worked as a nurse at the Oil City Hospital for many years.

She was a member of Our Lady help of Christians Church and a member of the Oil City Hospital Nursing Alumni Association.

She enjoyed reading, trivia, teaching her children and grandchildren about geography and history and watching her soap operas.

Shirley also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

She is survived by 6 children: Shirley Jeanette Schostarez & her husband Henry of Portage, MI, Jill Arlene McCauley and her husband Dennis of Fertigs, Mark David Winger and his wife Yvonne of Cambridge Springs, June E. Winger of Oil City, Jacqueline A. Wommer of Oil City and Gary G. Winger & his wife Amy of Knox.

She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Jessie Rice, Brian Schostarez, Sarah Schostarez, Alicia Spencer and Allison Winger, and one great granddaughter: Taylor Spencer.

She is also survived by her brother, George E. McAninch and his wife Lois of Issaquah, Washington.

She was preceded in death by a son –in-law Lewis Wommer, a sister-in-law Clarice “Sue” Farren and special friends Helen Stahlman and Mary Meddock.

Friends will be received from 11 – 11:45 a.m. Tuesday morning in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon in Our Lady Help of Christians Church with Fr. Shane Mathew, Pastor, Presiding.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Oil City Library, the Venango County Humane Societry or to the Kirtland Cancer Foundation.

Ralph Edward Myers

Ralph Edward Myers, age 93, of Knox, died Sunday evening, December 8, 2013 at his home, following a lengthy illness.

Born May 10, 1920 in Texas, he was a son of the late Edward and Florence Mong Myers.

Ralph was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Air Force. He served as a crew chief and worked on B-24 Liberators and was stationed in Brazil and Rome, Italy.

He married the former Hazel L. Theiss on November 21, 1942 and the couple celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2002 by renewing their wedding vows.

Hazel preceded him in death on August 13, 2003.

Following the war, Ralph was employed by Quaker State Oil Refinery in Emlenton. In his 42 years of service to the company he held the roles of Maintenance Supervisor, Safety Director and Fire Marshal. He retired from Quaker State in 1989.

Ralph was a member of the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church in Knox and was an avid hunter well into his late 80’s. He also enjoyed yard work.

He will be remembered by all who knew him for his strong work ethic.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Myers and his wife, Patricia, of Smethport and Bradley Myers and his wife, Karen, of Kearney, MO; two daughters: Mary Ellen Hall and her husband, Joseph, of Leeper and Connie Long of Emlenton.

He is also survived by nine grandsons: Rodney Deloe, Tad Myers, Clint Myers, Eddie Hall, Steven Myers, Charles Planker, David Long, Kevin Long and Michael Long; six granddaughters: Kami Krantz, Marie Kennedy, Katie Planker, Jennifer Olmstead, Rachel Myers and Jessica Myers.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ralph was preceded in death by two daughters: Sylvia Deloe and Suzanne Planker; two brothers: Robert Myers and Earl Myers; two sisters: Ruth Fleming and Martha Tagliabues and a son-in-law, William Long.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013 and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church, 159 Mt. Joy Road, Knox. The Reverend Dan Myers, pastor at Mt. Joy, will officiate over the service.

Military honors will be accorded at 11 a.m. Friday in the church by the Berlin-Bowser American Legion Post #720 of Knox.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Joy Cemetery.

Kenneth V. Cornell

Kenneth V. Cornell, 72, of Oil City, died unexpectedly, Saturday, December 7, 2013 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born October 30, 1941 in Titusville, he was a son of the late Wallace and Daisy Hunt Cornell.

Mr. Cornell worked as a groundskeeper at Two Mile Park.

He was a member of the First Church of God in Oil City.

Mr. Cornell was a member of the Pulaski club where he was a bowler.

He believed in recycling all materials.

Mr. Cornell was a sincere and loving person.

He was married to the former Theresa Smith, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Paul Cornell and wife Kathy, Ben Cornell, Barb Morehead and husband Victor, Melissa Cornell, Jessica Cornell Winters and husband Brice, and Daryl Craig; one brother and four sisters, Elaine, Bob, Pat, Linda and Lester; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Vincent Cornell and five brothers and one sister, Bill, Harold, Josephine, Marian, Merle and Ronald.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm.

Funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 1 pm with the Rev. Brenda Snedden, officiating.

Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery.

Beryl W. Mealey

Beryl W. Mealey, 82, of Bruin, PA, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013.

He was born May 2, 1931 in Hornell, NY, the son of Grant and Gladys (Pressure) Mealey.

Beryl moved to Mt. Jewett, PA as a child and lived there until age 13; he then moved to Tylersburg, PA. He attended North Clarion High School and honorably served as a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War, working with the 79th Combat Engineer as a heavy equipment operator. Beryl moved to Bruin in 1962, where he spent the rest of his life.

Beryl was employed as a truck driver for 28 years with R&H Corporation, worked as a sub-contractor for 11 years at Owens Illinois Glass in Clarion and worked in the boiler house at Witco for 9 and-a-half years. His last place of employment was with the Bruin Borough and he was there until his retirement.

Hardworking is how Beryl will be remembered by his family and friends. He loved being outdoors working on projects, with mowing the grass and remodeling his house being two of his favorite activities.

He is survived by his sons, Randall Mealey and wife, Sherri, of Grove City, Richard Mealey and wife, Cindy, of Leeper, Dale Mealey, of Utica, NY, and Greg Mealey and wife, Dacey, of Fenelton; daughter, Pamela Rippee and husband, Dean, of Saxonburg; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Beryl was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Marilyn Ruth (Hargenrader) Mealey, whom he married April 29, 1958 and who died April 13, 2013; and one great-granddaughter.

At Beryl’s request, services were private.

Judith A. Stahlman

Judith A. Stahlman, 68, of Orlando, Florida passed away on December 8, 2013 in Orlando Hospital South. Born August 7, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Margie (Himes) Stahlman.

She was employed by Diamond Resorts of Orlando, from which she retired in August, 2013.

Ms. Stahlman is survived by her son, Paul, and his wife Marni, and her granddaughter Lily of Winter Park, FL. She is also survived by her brothers Nelson and his wife Judy of Indiana, PA, and Blaine of Castle Rock, CO. Judy will be missed by several nephews and nieces, and especially by Lily.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where friends will be received from 10:00 until 11:00am on Friday, December 13, followed immediately by funeral services at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Daniel Little will officiate.

Interment will be in the Limestone Cemetery.

Margaret Christina Harry Davis

Margaret Christina Harry Davis, 89, of Seneca, died at 2:45 pm, Monday, December 9, 2013, at Oakwood Heights in Oil City.

Born February 17, 1924 in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Alice Forester Hasted.

Mrs. Davis was a member of Second Presbyterian Church.

She was first married to Francis G. Harry, who preceded her in death on May 10, 1974. Later she married James E. Davis, who preceded her in death on May 13, 1989.

Surviving are three sons, Gary F. Harry and wife Jane of Slippery Rock, Jeffrey D. Harry and wife Olympia of Pittsburgh, and Joseph A. Harry of Waynesboro; one daughter, Jane Bigelow and husband Richard of Oil City; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Sarah Sutley of Cranberry; and four step-children, Steve, Mike, Bob and Sally.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gwendolyn Wilde and Winifred Waggett, and two brothers Arthur Hasted and Gilbert Hasted.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 am on Thursday with the Rev. Richard Harry, Mrs. Davis’s nephew, officiating.

Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery.

Nicholas J. “Nick” Cherico

Nicholas Joseph “Nick” Cherico, age 60, of Shippenville, passed away on December 9, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Shippenville after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Born on March 3, 1953 in Brookville, he was the son of the late Nicholas J. and Irene (Clark) Cherico. He graduated from Clarion Area High School and the Erie Barber College.

In 1995, he married the former Barbara Stephens, who survives.

For more than 25 years, Nick managed the Fifth Avenue Family Restaurant which was owned by his family. After selling it, he worked at Carter Lumber, the Roadhouse, the Korner Restaurant in Sligo, as a driver for Clarion County Transportation, and as a mentor for the Arc of Clarion. Nick enjoyed fishing, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion.

In addition to his wife, Nick is survived by his brother, Jeffrey Cherico of Clarion; his sisters, Cindy Cherico of Clarion, and Sue Arendas and her husband David of Clarion; and his kitty, Gracie Mae.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Nick’s honor to the Arc of Clarion, or Clarion Vocation Services.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion. There will be no visitation.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00am on Saturday, December 14, with Father Monty Sayers officiating.

William “Bill” Rumbaugh

William “Bill” Rumbaugh, 45, of Nectarine passed away December 9, 2013 at Grove City Medical Center.

Born June 24, 1968 he was the son of Ronald Walter Rumbaugh and the late Bonnie Lou McFadden Rumbaugh.

Bill received his education from Franklin High School. He was last employed at Renvex in Barkeyville. Bill was affiliated with the Church of God of Prophecy of Nectarine.

Bill was very active in the Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department for the last 29 years. He was a member of Venango County ABATE.

Bill loved to spend time on his four wheeler whether it was going for a ride with his friends or using if for hunting.

He loved to spend time riding his Harley. Survived by his father Ronald Walter Rumbaugh and his wife, Bill’s step mother, Emily of Nectarine, his sisters Debbie Bonzer and her husband Doug of Ohio and Donna Kline of Sharon. His brother Donald Rumbaugh of Harrisville. Several nieces and nephews all survive. Proceeded in death by his mother Bonnie Lou McFadden Rumbaugh, his brother Ronald James “Ronnie” Rumbaugh who passed away March 31, 2010, his maternal grandparents Floyd and Pearl McFadden, his paternal grandparents Wilbur and Helen Rumbaugh.

Family will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Clintonville on Thursday December 12, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9.

David G. Gathers

David G. Gathers, 65, of Coldwell, Idaho, formerly of Clarion, died Sunday, November 24, 2013.

Born January 4, 1949 in Brookville; he was the son of the late Benjamin and Arvilla Grinell Gathers.

David was a 1967 graduate of Clarion High School.

A veteran, he served in the Army during Vietnam as a paratrooper 100 and 1ist Airborne, where he receive many honors and medals that include: Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and two overseas service medals.

He is survived by three sisters, Jill Gram and her husband, Richard, of Sacramento, CA, Cathleen Johnston of Shippenville, and Brenda Petroski and her husband, Darrell, of Eighty-Four.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Harry M. Gathers, Patrick H. Gathers, and Timothy Gathers.

There will be no visitation.

Military honors will be accorded at 11 a.m. on December 17, 2013 in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, with interment to follow.

Ray A. Gilliland

Ray A. Gilliland, of Hadley Road, Clarks Mills, (Perry Twp.) passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday evening, December 10, 2013 of natural causes. He was 67.

Ray was born in Greenville, Pa. on October 20, 1946 a son of Robert R. and Frances M. (Derr) Gilliland. On August 29, 1980 he married the former Katherine Thompson who preceded him in death on August 25, 1998, he subsequently married the former Twila A. Osborn on July 15, 1999.
He had been employed for over 19 years at the former Westinghouse, Sharon and had been self employed as a dairy farmer and also owned and operated Gilliland General Store in Atlantic and Utica. He had attended the Clarks Mills United Methodist Church. Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing and having raised horses taking great pride in showing them.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his mother, Frances M. Gilliland of Greenville, 3 sons, Robert W. Gilliland and his wife Michelle of Saegertown, Lester E. Ault and his wife Michelle of Cochranton and Brad Miller and his wife Beth of Greenville, 2 daughters, Tami L. Baker and her husband Rusty of Cochranton and Donna Emigh and her husband Joe of Utica. Two sisters, Kitty M. Wolfe and her husband James of Greenville and Chip Sheffer and her husband George of Greenville, his first wife, Louise Gilliland of Meadville. 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and 2 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father and his second wife, Katherine.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyvile, with the Rev. Dayton Mix, pastor of the Clarks Mills United Methodist Church officiating.

The committal service and interment will follow at the Stevenson Cemetery, Salem Twp.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00-7:00 pm and are invited to share memories and condolences online at Robert Snyder Funeral Home

William E. “Bill” Marsh

William E. “Bill” Marsh, 64, of Venus, Pinegrove Township went to be with his Lord at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. He passed peacefully at home in God’s presence following a courageous battle with cancer, while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Oil City on January 5, 1949 to the late Austin L. and Helen I. (Pleger) Marsh.

Bill attended Cranberry High School before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a lifetime member of the N.R.A., a member of the Rockland Sportsman Club where he participated in many meat shoots, and a member of the American Tree Farmers Association. He attended Christ Fellowship Church in Venus.

Bill was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors, deer hunting, and fishing. He had a fishing boat that he enjoyed taking out on Lake Erie, and made many trips to Batavia, New York to fish for salmon. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and attended many races; he was also a gun collector. He and his daughter were active in three-wheeler racing, and spent many weekends competing on the track. He had a fond interest in antique cars, and was proud to still own the very first new automobile that he purchased, a 1971 Pontiac LeMans convertible. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, taking them hunting, fishing, and riding ATV’s.

Mr. Marsh began working at his family’s business, Marsh Lumber Company in Venus. He also owned and operated the Marsh Tree Farm in Venus and grew and sold Christmas trees for many years; he and his family enjoyed the friendship of their many customers. The tree farm closed due to his declining health in recent years. He and his wife were an over-the-road team, driving tractor trailer together for a number of years. He then became a teamster’s driver and transported for Yellow Freight.

Bill was married by Rev. Raymond Zeigler on July 25, 1970 at the Pine City Free Methodist Church to the former Ella “Julie” Cope, who survives.

Also surviving is a daughter, Karlene Hogue and her husband Benjamin of Venus; two grandchildren, Garret and Alaina Hogue; his great-nieces and great-nephew, whom he and his wife raised, Nichole, Karina, and Jacob Webber, all of Oil City; his sister, Carolyn Marsh of Venus; a brother, Lee Marsh and wife Eileen of Venus; a sister-in-law, Imogene Marsh of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Marsh; and an infant brother, Richard Marsh.

Friends will be received Friday (Dec. 13) from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. until noon in Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Saturday at noon with Pastor Denny Weaver, of Christ Fellowship Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Cranberry.

Memorial contributions may be made to the V.N.A. Hospice Program, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin PA 16323; or to Christ Fellowship Church, 2305 Old State Road, Venus PA 16364.

Vaughn E. Busch, 86, of 169 Acorn Dr, Seneca, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at UPMC Northwest Seneca.

Born October 19, 1927 in Newmansville, he was a son of the late Fannie L. Deshner Busch.

Mr. Busch hauled asphalt prior to working at Hay’s Bakery, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed Bongo, watching TV and playing crazy rummy.

On November 30, 202 he married the former Lola Stover, who survives.

Also surviving is a brother Dick Busch of New Philadelphia OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and a stepsister.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 pm Saturday at the Morrison Funeral Home.

Service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Shirley Sita

Shirley Sita, 87, of Sligo, PA formerly of Phillipston, PA, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Country Springs Personal Care Home in Sligo.

She was born September 16, 1926 in Phillipston, PA, the daughter of Edward S. and Sara Jane (Crawford) Vosburg.

Shirley lived in Phillipston all of her life and graduated from East Brady High School. In her younger years she worked at Schenley Distillery and later went to work in the production department at the former Clarion Owens Illinois Glass plant, a position she held for more than 20 years. Shirley was a member of East Brady United Methodist Church.

Shirely enjoyed several hobbies throughout her life. She took great pleasure in her many bus trips over the years. She was also a gifted artist and throughout her school years created many beautiful pencil sketches and drawings. Shirley was especially fond of cats and loved and nurtured many as her pets. She had a great appreciation of the outdoors and was an avid walker who could be seen walking around Phillipston every day. Those who knew her will remember her many feline friends, her kind and gentle heart, and giving nature.

Her memory will be cherished by her cousins Audrey Hile and Gene Hile, both of Karns City, and numerous other cousins.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dominick Sita, DDS, whom she married November 25, 1961 and who died November 9, 2002; and twin brother, Edward S. Vosburg, III.

Relatives and friends will be received from 11 AM until the time of funeral services at 1 PM on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main Street, Rimersburg, with the Rev. John A. Milliron officiating.

Burial will be in Rimersburg Cemetery, Rimersburg, PA.

Contributions can be made in Shirley’s honor to the Rimersburg First United Methodist Church, 399 Main St., Rimersburg, PA 16248.

Vincent C. Nigliazzo, 88, of Shippenville, formerly of Penn Hills, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013.

He was beloved husband of Millie L.; loving father of Connie (Gene) Kestory, of Florida, MaryAnn Kennedy, Vincent (the late Bunny), of Apollo, Kenneth Nigliazzo and Patricia (Michael) Santelli; beloved stepfather of Shawn (Terry) McCall, of Georgia, Timothy (Cheryl) McCall, of Pittsburgh, Carolyn (Gregory) Vesce, of Penn Hills, Cynthia (Richard) Litterine, of Plum, and George McCall, of Ohio; survived by 26 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother of Josephine Pichler, of Florida, Rosemarie (Auggie) Badali and the late Toni Yankech, Francis Coates and Sam Nigliazzo; brother-in-law of Charlotte Nigliazzo, of Arizona; and uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.

He was active in Disabled American Veterans for more than 50 years and was a proud World War II veteran, having served with the Coast Guard. Vince was also a lifetime member of North Bessemer No. 3 Penn Hills Fire Hall, VFW and American Legion.

Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at SOXMAN FUNERAL HOMES LTD./ROTH CHAPEL, 7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Road), Penn Hills, where a service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be at Restland Memorial Park.

Thomas W. Lutz, of Clarence, NY, formerly of Clarion, died on December 9, 2013.

He was the husband of the late Mary (Pierce) Lutz; beloved father of Thomas Jeffrey Lutz and Rose Ann (Richard S.) Szpylman Jr; loving grandfather of Mary Rose Szpylman, Richard S. Szpylman III and Joseph Jeffrey Lutz; dear brother of Raymond (Michal) Lutz, Paul (Lynn) Lutz, Delores Hollis, Della Lutz, Bill Lutz, Nellie Lutz, the late James Lutz, Arthur Lutz, Richard Lutz, Edward Lutz and Ronald Lutz; brother-in-law of Jean Lutz, Carol Lutz and the late Audrey Lutz; son of the late Arthur E. and Anna E (nee Porter) Lutz; also survived by nieces and nephews.

Friends received Thursday, December 12th 5-8 PM at SHEPARD BROS FUNERAL HOME, 10690 Main Street, Clarence, NY, where a prayer service will be held Friday December 13th at 11AM. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Clarence Senior Center. Tom had a watch repair business in his home.

Lula F. Rourke, 88, of 137 Rourke Road, Sheffield, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Born June 8, 1925 in Endeavor, she was the daughter of Alex and Julia Haight Ishman. On March 14, 1942 in Venus, she married Robert D. Rourke, who survives.

Lula worked as an Licensed Practical Nurse at Warren State Hospital for over twentyfive years, retiring in 1986.

She was a member of the First Church of God in Marienville and P.A.R.S.E. She was an avid hunter, a great fisherman and was wellknown for the many, many apple pies she made.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Judith Cochran and Louann Wolfgang, both of Sheffield; four sons, Ronald O’Rourke of Greensburg, Larry O’Rourke of Marienville, Stanley O’Rourke of Sheffield and Gerald Rourke, also of Sheffield, plus a sister, Rachel Eck of Redclyffe and brothers Raymond Ishman of Charlotte, N.C. and Donald Ishman of Clarion. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, Krystalyn Cochran of Polk, Gary Cochran of Sheffield, Tammy Thompson of Marienville, Amy Cochran of Tidioute, Joey O’Rourke of Waterford, Eric O’Rourke of Brockway, Robert Cochran of Marienville, Bridget O’Rourke of Wexford, Ryan O’Rourke of Portland, Ore., Laura Hertel of Brookville, Carl Rourke of Erie, Melissa Page of Warren, Breanna Winkle of Columbus, Ohio, Justin Wolfgang and Erin Hammerbeck, both of Sheffield and Jason Rourke of Rochester, N.Y. Twentyfour great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by brothers Dean, Alex and Fred Ishman.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Friday at the Ronald McDonald Funeral Home in Marienville, and may attend a service there at 11:00 on Saturday with the revs. Harold Crawford and Ben Kundick, pastors of the First Church in God, coofficiating. Interment will follow in Frost Cemetery in Pigeon.
