Keith D. Wensel

Keith D. Wensel, 80, of 1725 Front St., Sligo, passed away Friday evening January 24, 2014 at home.

Born in Brookville May 23, 1933, he was the son of the late Dale and Evelyn Johnston Wensel.

He was married in March 1954 to the former Martha Belle Burns and she survives.

He retired from RMS Furniture in New Bethlehem in 1995. Keith was an active member of the Sligo Methodist Church, holding several offices throughout the years including former Church Council Chairperson. In addition, in the past he served on the Sligo Borough Council and the Southern Clarion Co. Ambulance Service Board of Directors.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son; Eric D. Wensel and his wife Tammy of East Brady; two grandchildren, Brad Wensel of Nashville, TN and Briana Doherty and her husband John of Pittsburgh; and one great-grandson John Doherty V.

Keith’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday January 28, 2014, at the Varner Funeral Home, 1632 Bald Eagle St. Sligo.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday from the funeral home with the Rev. Craig Peterson, Pastor of the Sligo Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sligo Cemetery.

Alan LeRoy “Butch” Slater

Alan LeRoy “Butch” Slater, 63, of Brumbaugh Lane, Seneca, died on Friday, January 24, 2014.

He was born on September 30, 1950 in Oil City to the late LeRoy E. and Susan Joan Hart Slater.

He was a 1968 graduate of Cranberry High School and then attended engineering courses at the University of Pittsburgh at both the Titusville and Pittsburgh campuses.

Mr. Slater was a former member of the Fryburg Sportsman’s Club and a member of the Heckathorn United Methodist Church.

Butch had a love of the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast. Throughout the years, he participated in a variety of local bowling and softball leagues.

Mr. Slater was employed by the Continental Can Company of Oil City for eighteen years, then worked at the Classic Player Piano Factory in Seneca, and most recently at Seneca Hardwood Lumber Company in Cranberry.

On March 31, 1972, he married his best friend and the love of his life, the former DiAnne J. Melat, and she survives.

Also surviving are two children, Barbi Allaman and her husband Mark of Marion, Illinois; and Scott Slater and his wife Jennifer of Seneca; two grandchildren, Sara Allaman and Chase Slater; and his brother, Stacy Slater and his wife Misty of Seneca.

Butch is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Barbara Melat of Cranberry; very close family friends, Lloyd and Shirley Perry of Seneca; and a large and loving extended family including numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers-and-sisters-in-law; and many wonderful close neighbors and friends whom he considered family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Imogene Hart; and his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Velma Slater.

Friends will be received Tuesday (Jan. 28th) from 4-7 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township, where a memorial service celebrating his life will follow at 7 p.m. with the Revs. Jon and Dixie Peterson, officiating.

Jack C. Sanford, 92, a well-known area civic leader and former mayor of the City of Franklin, died peacefully Sunday morning, January 26, 2014 in his Franklin home surrounded by his loving family following a period of declining health.

He was born March 3, 1921 in Franklin a beloved son of the late: Roy J. Stanford and Florence Viele Sanford Kinsky. He was the step-son of the late John Kinsky.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 AM in the First United Methodist Church, 1102 Liberty Street, Franklin with Reverend Jeffery Little, pastor offciating. Immediately following the funeral services, full military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Funeral Honor Guard of Franklin.

James N. Moore

James N. Moore crossed over to a better life at his home in Miola Sunday morning January 26, 2014 from natural causes.

Jim was born on December 17, 1944 to Mae (Reed) and Walter L. Moore who have preceded him in death.

Jim served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1969 and was a member of the American Legion Post 66. After serving his country, Jim returned to his hometown of Clarion and began a career in the construction field.
He then moved on to become a drill operator for C&K Coal Company for several years until the decline of the coal industry in the early 1980s. He was elected as a Highland Township Supervisor and also held the position of Roadmaster.

Jim was the Manager of Clarion Beverage from 1996 until his retirement in 2006. He enjoyed fishing and was a visible site in the Miola area, always eager to help out his friends doing various projects from mowing lawns, renovations to light construction.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Sally, whom he married on August 23, 1969, by his children, Rhonda Moore of Point Reyes Station, California, and Jamie Moore of LaPlata, Maryland. He also leaves his sisters Mary (Russell) Bartley, Susan (Ronald) Becker, Norma (Jim) Wotring, and younger brother, Walter “Tink” (Donna) Moore, special family members, Ted and Linda Pappas, numerous nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews, as well as his brother-in-law, Jack Shreckengost and many good buddies.

Jim previously was a member of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Miola where in earlier years, he served as an elder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-nephew Brady Wotring, brother-in-law, Bernard Shreckengost and sister-in-law, Betty Lemons. Recently, Jim’s beloved Boston Terrier, Molly, preceded him to
heaven and is now reunited with her buddy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Charitable Deeds & Services, 98 Hickory Nut Lane, Knox PA 16232.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion. Per Jim’s wishes, there will be no viewing.

Friends may call from 10-11am at the funeral home on Thursday, January 30.

A memorial service will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home, with Rev. Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 66 of Clarion prior to the services.

Kathryn M “Kassie” Eck

Kathryn M “Kassie” Eck, 96 of Butler PA, formerly of Phillipston and East Brady died Monday January 27, 2014 at Sunnyview Nursing Home.

Born May 3, 1917 in Parker, PA, she was the daughter of Harry C. and Kathryn M. (Weckerly) Gates.

On February 12, 1943 she married Joseph “Wally” Eck. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1986.

Kassie was a member of St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church in East Brady. She also enjoyed word search puzzles.

Kassie proudly raised 2 girls, Fanny Miller who preceded her in death and Nancy (Gates) McClaine of Maple Heights OH. She is also survived by Fred McClaine and wife Rita of Meridian whom she affectionately called her son. 3 Grandchildren August McClaine of Ft. Mill, SC., Brandan McClaine and wife Lora of Broadview Heights, OH., and Justine McClaine of Washington DC. and 2 Great Grandchildren Jonah McClaine and Mari McClaine.

Kassie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Lesley A. Black, 48, of Smethport, died Sunday (January 26, 2014) in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.

She was born Dec. 13, 1965 in Clarion, a daughter of Patricia A. Sporer Walter and Duane V. Schmader. On September 8, 2008, in Myrtle Beach, SC, she married Paul E. Black, who survives.

Mrs. Black was a 1984 graduate of Clarion Junior/Senior High School and attended Robert Morris College. She had been employed as a legal secretary for the Hollenbeck law office of Bradford, and later was secretary in the District Attorney’s office at the McKean County Courthouse. She currently was a housewife tending to her family’s needs at home.

She was a member of Delta Phi Epsilon sorority of Robert Morris College, and enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, and creating special things for family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by: Her mother: Patricia A. Walter of Conway, SC, Her father and step mother: Duane V. (Melinda) Schmader of Tylersburg, PA one daughter: Amanda N (Matthew) Kaziska of Smethport, PA one son: Zachary S. (Rebecca) Ganoe of Ft. Meade, MD a step son: Tyler E. Black of Smethport, PA two step daughters: Stephanie L. Black and Morgan A. Black, both of Smethport, PA two grandchildren: Jonah S. Ganoe and Lucas C. Kaziska two sisters: Nanette M. Schmader of Conway, SC and Gretta L. (Matthew) Mazzarella of Raeford, NC two brothers: Duane V. Schmader, Jr. of Tylersburg, PA and Joseph M. (Mary) Schmader of Sigel, PA and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both her maternal and paternal grandparents, and her step father, William Walter.

There will be no visitation. A Blessing service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at 10 A.M., at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport, officiating.

Albert Edward Carson

Albert Edward Carson, Sr., 74, of Franklin died at 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2014.

Born March 13, 1939 in Franklin, PA, Albert was the son of the late Harold and Hazel W. (Hart) Carson.

On October 26, 1963 he married the former Freda Bly, who preceded him in death on March 26, 2011.

Mr. Carson was a 1957 graduate of Oil City High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

He was employed as a stillman and laborer at Pennzoil for 31 years until his retirement in September 1999.

Mr. Carson was of the Protestant faith.

Albert is survived by his son, David Duane Carson and his wife, Nicki of Franklin; his daughter, Angela Marie Carson of Reno; his brother, Norman Carson and his wife, Lois of Titusville and his sisters, Wilma Sutley of Franklin and Nancy Barger of Franklin; his grandchildren, Jaiden Carson and Zoe Heckathorn, both of Franklin; and a sister-in-law, Verna Carson of Franklin.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Albert E. Carson, Jr. and two brothers, Chester L. Carson and Kenneth Carson.

Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Thursday, January 30, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Leichliter of the Seventh Street Church of God in Franklin, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.

Interment will take place in Bethel Cemetery.

Robert Lee “Bob” Crusan

Robert Lee “Bob” Crusan, of Chestnut Street, Clarion, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at the Clarion Hospital on January 28, 2014. He was 76 years old.

Born on May 2, 1937 in the house where he lived his entire life, he was the son of Elmer E. and Ethel (Girts) Crusan. After leaving school, he served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. In 1961, he married the former Sarah “Sally” Seitz.

Bob was a master mechanic for 35 years. He enjoyed anything to do with engines, and could practically take them apart and put them back together blind folded! He also did TV repair on sets that had tubes. Most recently, since 1989, Bob put his people skills and his gregarious personality to good use in working with people with special needs at the Arc of Clarion and UCIP. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 66 in Clarion, and the American Model Association, a group which specializes in control line model airplanes. Bob loved building World War II era flying models from balsa wood and then flying them with his friends. He also loved sharing a good WWII movie with family and friends, especially those starring John Wayne.

Bob is survived by his wife Sally; his son Jason Crusan, of Emlenton; his daughter Leanna Cathcart, of Strattanville; his 4 grandchildren, Brady Crusan, Hunter Cathcart, Briana Crusan, and RyAnn Crusan; and he was eagerly looking forward to the coming of his first great-grandchild. Bob is also survived by his sister, Lois Murray of Buffalo NY.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Ryan Crusan in 2007; his brother William “Bill” Crusan; and his sister, Helen Zentz.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street, Clarion, where visitation will be held from 3-6pm on Thursday, January 30 and again from 10-11am on Friday, January 31. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00am on Friday with Rev. Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 66 of Clarion. Interment will follow in the Cedarview Memorial Park.

Charles A. Nulph, 86 of Oak Ridge, died on Tuesday, January 28 at the Clarview Nursing and Rehab Center in Sligo.

He was born on January 29, 1927 in New Bethlehem and son of Raymond R. and Florence V. (Brown) Nulph. He married Gwendolyn M. “Ginny” (Hartman) on April 16, 1947 and she preceded him in death on September 9, 2012.

He worked for Sharon Steel and he attended the Grace Baptist Church in New Bethlehem. He served his country during World War 2 with the United States Army. He served with the Headquarters Company, 8th Army in Japan. He was on a ship headed to Japan when Hiroshima was bombed.

He is survived by three daughters; Carol Rosenquest of Summerville, Christy Drayer and her husband John of Templeton, and Debora Carrico and her husband Tim of New Bethlehem, two sons; Stephen Nulph and his wife Karen of New Bethlehem and Adam Nulph of Oak Ridge, eleven grandchildren; Tracy Rankin, Tammy Rankin Smith, Andrew Nulph, Anthony Nulph, Cody Nulph, Nathan Nulph, Zach Nulph, Justin Drayer, Jordan Drayer, Ben Carrico, and Michael Carrico, five great grandchildren; Lauren Smith, Tommy Smith, Elaina Carrico, Evan Carrico, and Kendall Carrico, and a sister, Margaret Valdine “Tootie” Nulph of Erie.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 30, from 6 – 9 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.

The funeral service will be on Friday, January 31, at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Ryver officiating.

Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.

Donald L. Meier

Donald L. Meier, 88, of East Center Street, North Kingsville, Ohio, died peacefully Monday, January 27th, 2014, following a period of declining health.

Born June 19, 1925, in Knox, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Ernest and Margaret Detwiler Meier.

He attended White Memorial High School in Knox until joining The Army Air Corp in 1943. He proudly served with the 8th Air Force, 446th Bomb Group; 707th Heavy Bomb Squadron, stationed at Flixton Air Base in Bungay, England. He completed thirteen combat bombing missions as either ball turret or waist gunner aboard Consolidated B-24 Liberators. He was awarded two Air Medals for Distinguished Meritorious Achievement in Flight.

When the war ended he returned to Pennsylvania and began working for Acme Markets in Curwensville and later in Clarion, becoming the store manager.

On August 1, 1947 he married the former Betty Shrum and together they celebrated sixty-one years of love and memories. Betty died on September 4, 2008.

When the Acme Market closed the Clarion store in the mid-fifties, Don chose not to relocate his young family and began working with Commercial Testing and Engineering, based out of Chicago, Illinois, when they opened a lab in Strattanville, Pennsylvania. In 1968 he accepted a promotion with CT&E and moved to North Kingsville, Ohio. He retired from CT&E in 1986 and enjoyed a long and active retirement.

Throughout their lives, Don and Betty were active and faithful members of Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion and Good Shepherd and Messiah Lutheran Churches, in Ashtabula County, Ohio; where they served on many committees and councils. They lovingly restored the Chrisamon ornaments that are still used on the trees during the Christmas season.

Don was a hardworking man who enjoyed golfing, swimming, traveling, playing cards, games and spending time with his family.

Don is survived by four children, Deborah Call and her husband Ben, of Clarion, Donald Meier II of Butler, Rodney Meier and his wife, Lisa, of Romeoville, Illinois and Kevin Meier and his wife, Judy, of North Kingsville, Ohio; twelve grandchildren, Benny, Sharon, Matthew, Michaela, Nicole, Patrick, Kristina, Gary, Kelly, Eric, Sara and Kayla; eleven great grandchildren; Amanda, Christopher, Brandon, Rebekah, Cody, Emma, Claire, Noah, Abby, Michael and Charleigh and three great, great grandchildren; Billy, Addison and Gabriel; a brother, Jerry Meier, two sisters, Nancy (Ray) Elder, Linda (Richard) Wagner, two sister-in-laws Joan (Karl) Rowe and Sue Meier and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Meier and a sister, Dorothy Meier Dittman.

Private burial will take place at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio. . Military honors will be provide by the American Legion, Neal Post 743 of North Kingsville, Ohio

A celebration of Donald’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church, 420 Liberty Street, Clarion, PA, Pastor, Jake Jacobson will officiate.

Shirley Jean Rex

Shirley Jean Rex, 78, of Independence Court in Erie, formerly of Rex Lane in Seneca, went home to the Lord on Wednesday morning, January 29, 2014 at UPMC Hamot in Erie following an extended illness.

She was born December 26, 1935 in Oil City to the late Roy C. and Helen L. Dowlan Alsbaugh.

Shirley attended Oil City schools.

She was a member of Seneca United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir.

In her younger days, she enjoyed square dancing. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, canning and gardening. She was a dedicated homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family and her home. She had a love for children of all ages and did babysitting for local families for many years.

In her earlier years, she worked as a nurse’s aide. She worked in the cafeteria for the Cranberry school district, and also at the Ames and Hills department stores.

She was married in Oil City on June 14, 1957 to Albert A. Rex, Jr., and he preceded her in death on August 17, 2000.

Surviving is her son, Ricky A. Rex and his wife Karen of Erie; two grandsons, Matthew and Andrew Rex of Erie; three sisters, Barbara Rex and husband Cliff of Seneca, Darlene Moon of Seneca, and Linda Osgood of Kennerdell. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, William, and Ronald Alsbaugh; a sister, Carolyn Renninger; and a grandson, Curtis Lee Rex.

Friends will be received Thursday (Jan. 30) from 6-8 p.m. and also on Friday (Jan. 31) from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William E. Hastings, pastor of Seneca United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Brandon Cemetery, Cranberry.

Margaret “Peggy” Huffman

Margaret “Peggy” Huffman, 60 of Wilson Ave. in Rocky Grove, passed away at 12:20 P.M. on Wednesday January 29, 2014 at The Caring Place surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with Leukemia.

Born July 3, 1953 in Oil City, she was a daughter of Leroy Harvey and Grace McGinnis Harvey.

Peggy was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting as well. Peggy loved long walks at Two Mile Run Park and enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

Peggy was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family.

On August 24, 1994 she married Donald R. Huffman and he survives.

Also surviving are three daughters; Cindy Heller and her husband Tim of Rocky Grove, Kim Myers and her husband Chris of Reno, and Crystal Reisinger Hadden and her husband Cory of of Rocky Grove; a brother Dan Paden of Oil City; a sister, Pam McMurdy of Rouseville; five grandchildren, Justin Heller, Brandon Heller, Tyler Heller, Austin Myers, and Christina Myers.

Additionally she is survived by; brother in laws, Leroy Huffman and his wife Delores of Cranberry and Harry Huffman and his wife Sharon of Seneca; a sister in law, Ruby Haupt and her husband Dick of Rockland; a father in law, Wallace Huffman of Seneca and her beloved friend and companion, her dog Wimpy.

Family and friends welcome Friday from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Peggy’s brother, Rev. Dan Paden, officiating.

Nannie E. Brown, 93 of Franklin passed away at 11:04 P.M. Tuesday January 28, 2014 at Sugar Creek Station.

Born April 5, 1920 in Strattanville, she was a daughter of the late William and Emma Myers Rifenberrick.

She attended Rocky Grove High School.

Mrs. Brown worked many years for the Valley Grove School District as a cook at Rocky Grove High School.

She enjoyed crocheting and playing cards and was involved with a sewing and card club. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was an active and faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin.

On August 21, 1937 she married Raymond M. Brown and after 50 years of marriage he preceded her in death on October 27, 1987.

Surviving are two daughters; Wendy Sloss and her husband Tom of Reno and Bertha McElhaney and her husband Harry “Mac” of Franklin; five grandchildren, Mike McElhaney, Vicki Ahmadian, Debbie Covell, Lori Sloss and Ed Sloss; 14 great-grandchildren, Sara, Patrick, Clayton, Amy, Leigh, Anna, Jenny, Becky, Cody, William, Shane, Piper, Aedan and Scott; and 6 great – great grandchildren, Zack, Avery, Colton, Emma, Tyler and Alexandra.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister; Marge Matson; a brother Lowrey Rifenberrick; and a grandson Steven “Pete” McElhaney.

Family and friends welcome Thursday from 3:00- 7:00 P.M. at Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Sam Wagner, Associate Pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Frances M. Weiser, age 61, of Harborcreek, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Erie on August 15, 1952, daughter of the late Russell and Helen Morgan.

Frances was a 1970 graduate of Harbor Creek High School and was employed at General Electric Company for 38 years, retiring in 2008.

Frances is survived by her husband, Raymond Weiser.

Barbara Ann Neidich, 45, of Pinoak Village, went to be with her father and son on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, after an extended illness.

Born August 21, 1968 in Franklin, she was a daughter of Carolyn Bowser Neidich Bills and the late Barry M. (Buzz) Neidich.

Barbara had been employed at Electrolloy.

She was an avid Steelers fan, loved singing karaoke especially Black Velvet, loved her grandchildren, visiting with friends, playing pool, going to bingo, making handmade jewelry and scrapbooking until she had a stroke and could no longer do these things.

Barbara is survived by her mother, Carolyn Bills and step father, Thomas Bills, whom she loved dearly; a daughter, Rachel M. Heath of Fayetteville NC; a son, Joshua Heath of PA; a sister, Julie Neidich of Oil City; and a nephew Nathaniel Baker of Oil City.

Also surviving are three step brothers, Todd Bills and wife Carla of MI, Tim Bills and wife Lura of CA, and Shawn Bills and wife Angie of MI; two step sisters, Laurie Leal and husband Leo of IL, and April Betarie and husband Joe of OH; several step nieces and step nephews; and aunt and uncle, Joyce and Don Neidich; and cousins Terry and Tom Neidich.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, a son, Jacob Heath, maternal grandparents, David and Shirley Bowser; and paternal grandparents, Sam and Ida Mae Galati.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1 pm Saturday with the Rev. Rudy Rimer officiating.

Barbara L. Minnick, 90, of Mt. Hope, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the home of her daughter Millie with family by her side.

Born August 2, 1923, in Erie, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Merrill and Mildred Mellott Teats.

Barbara was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sugar Creek United Methodist Church in Franklin, Pa., where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She enjoyed her family and sewing and was a member of a sewing club. Barbara was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sr.; grandson, Chris; three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her son, Chuck Minnick and partner Barb of Franklin, Pa.; daughter, Millie Shawl of Mt. Hope; four grandchildren, Sue, Mark, Jill and Matt; seven great-grandchildren, Leah, Tyler, Willow, Ava, Haleigh, Tate and Heath; sisters-in-law, Frances and Ellen; brother-in-law, Cliff; and many friends in Franklin, Pa.

Following her wishes she will be cremated. There will be no service or visitation.

Donald L. Morris

Donald L. Morris, 79, of Pittsville Rd., Kennerdell, passed away Thursday morning, January 30, 2014 at his residence while surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Warren on August 18, 1934, Donald was the son of the late Albert and Beatrice Lutz Morris.

Donald was a 1953 graduate of Oil City High School. He was married in Parker on February 19, 1955 to the former Rose Marie Hughes. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2003.

He founded D.M. Machine & Tool in Kennerdell in 1979. Don was an award winning machinest and operated the machine shop for more than thirty five years.

Don was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a long time member of the Clarion Bass Masters. He also enjoyed golfing, gambling, skeet shooting, and the company of his cat Tom.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan Collingwood and her husband, Tom, of Kennerdell, and Cindy McCoy of Knox; his grandchildren, Matt McCoy and his wife, Amy of Kennerdell, David McCoy and his wife, Lauren of Knox, Kristin Hurrelbrink and her husband, Brad, of Emlenton ; four great grandchildren, Kendra, Merissa, Madison, and Allison.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton, from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Friday, January 31. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Linda Deeter, officiating. Interment will follow in the Eau Claire Cemetery.
