James A. “Hunky” Mohnkern Jr.

James A. “Hunky” Mohnkern, Jr., 67, of 134 Plum St, Oil City, died at 2:20 am, Tuesday, December 03, 2013, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born May 29, 1946 in Oil City, he was a son of the late James A. Mohnkern, Sr. and Winifred M. Smith Mohnkern.

Jim was a graduate of Oil City High School. He served in the National Guards. Jim retired in December 2010 from 1st Energy (Penelec) as a Hydro Operator. He had worked for various contractors in the area. Jim was a member of the Oil City Eagles and the PNA. He played senior softball and in high school played football and ran track. Jim enjoyed NASCAR, motorcycles cooking for family and friends and sharing recipes.

On September 4, 1964 he married the former Nancy Hockman, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, James A. Mohnkern III and companion Judy Combs, Danny A. Mohnkern and companion Bridget Ochs, and Brett A. Mohnkern, all of Oil City; a daughter, Toni Reisinger and husband Jim of Oil City; seven grandchildren, Jordan Drake and husband Larry, Gary T. Glass, Jr. and companion Kayla Wagner, Breanne Glass and companion Gordon Black, Megan Mohnkern, Mikey Mohnkern, Maggie Mohnkern and Logan Mohnkern; and two great granddaughters, Lily and Bella. Also surviving is a sister, Jean Grawbadger and husband Jerry of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret “Peggy” McCracken.

Friends will be received at the Morrison Funeral Home from 5 to 8 pm Thursday.

Service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
