Margaret Regina “Maggie” Kunselman, age 82, of New Bethlehem, died early Friday morning, May 2, 2014 at her home following an illness.
Born September 6, 1931 in New Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Birdie Kohler Wurm.
She married Howard S. “Sam” Kunselman on November 6, 1965 and he survives.
Maggie was the bookkeeper at New Bethlehem Auto Parts until retiring to care for her son, Danny.
She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in New Bethlehem and the church Rosary Society.
Maggie enjoyed spending time at her camp at the Allegheny River in Rimer and 4th of July family reunions.
Survivors include her husband, Sam; two sons: Christopher Plavney and his wife, Cindy, of North Charleston, South Carolina and Howard S. Kunselman, III and his wife, Amy, of Madison, Alabama; a daughter: Laura L. Lankford and her husband, Frederick, of Ashford, Connecticut; Nine grandchildren: Eli, Jenny, Nickolas, Ryan, Jenna, Katelyn, Michael, Hayden and Audrey.
Also surviving is a sister, Helen Sloan, of California; step brother, William McGregor of Shannondale and close friend, Margie Shirey and the Shirey clan.
In addition to her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Plavney; brother, William L. Wurm; sister, Betty Jane Wurm and two step-sisters, Nancy Bowser and Sylvia Bailey
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 in the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 201 Washington Street, New Bethlehem. Father Samuel Bungo will serve as celebrant.
Interment will take place in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in New Bethlehem.
