Glenn, Kathy (1)Kathy Glenn, 64, of Corsica, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Jefferson Manor.

Kathy was born Sept. 12, 1949, in Brookville, she was the daughter of Theodore Ferringer and Bertha Kniseley Ferringer.

She was married to David Glenn, who survives.

Kathy was a teacher at C.G. Johnson Elementary School in Reynoldsville.

Kathy graduated from Clarion State College, now Clarion University.

She was a homemaker, accomplished cook and seamstress, and especially loved to cross stitch. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Kathy is survived by a son, Andrew Davis (Melissa) of Binghamton, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Ethan and Serena Davis of Binghamton, N.Y.

Also surviving is a brother, David Ferringer (Betsy) of Brookville.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Corsica.

A memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m Saturday at the church with Rev. James Dietrich officiating.

Hazel Mumford McNeil Davison

Hazel Mumford McNeil Davison died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 1:55pm at the age of 92 while residing at McKinley Health Center.

A service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 11:00am at McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville, Pennsylvania. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and prior to the funeral.

Hazel was born on December 28, 1921 in Brookville, Pennsylvania to Cena (Rhoades) and Walter Mumford. Hazel had six siblings (Virginia Royer, Walter (Dick) Mumford, Betty Mumford, Ivan Mumford, and Nancy Fiscus) who preceded her in death. Also, Ralph Mumford who resides in Brookville is her only living sibling.

Hazel was married to Melvin McNeil from Sigel on July 4, 1941. Melvin passed away April 15, 1985. On September 12, 1992, Hazel married Ralph Davison and they resided in Florida. Ralph passed away on July 1, 2003. At this time, Hazel moved back to Brookville to live with her son, Michael Jon McNeil.

A daughter, Mollie Cotten, who resides with her husband, Richard Cotten, in Mars, Pennsylvania, survives Hazel. Also, her son, Michael Jon McNeil lives in Brookville, Pennsylvania. Her older daughter, Marsha Cable and her husband Richard Cable preceded Hazel in death.

Hazel worked for the National Fuel Gas Company as a clerk, the Brookville Area Schools as a bookkeeper, and S & T Bank in Brookville, Pennsylvania. Hazel was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Brookville. Any memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church in memory of Hazel.

Five grandchildren also survive Hazel, Cristy Lowe from Lititz, Pennsylvania and Andy Cable and Dan Cable from Brookville, Pennsylvania. Also, surviving grandchildren are Ryan Milliron from Mars, Pennsylvania and Ethan McNeil from Waukegan, Illinois. Five great grandchildren, Cole, Zoe, Jake, and David Cable from Brookville, Pennsylvania and Chloe Ryann Milliron from Mars, Pennsylvania, also survive her.

Her family and many friends will miss Hazel. She lived her life with grace.

Max W. Davis, 92, of Brookville died at her home February 12, 2014.

She was born July 4, 1921 to Clyde Davis, and Mildred Knapp Davis.

Visitation hours will be Saturday, February 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at McKinney Funeral Home.

Rosalie Helen Ruby Myers

Rosalie Helen Ruby Myers, 72, of Decatur, GA, died of complications stemming from Pulmonary Fibrosis and Heart Disease on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, in DeKalb Medical Center Intensive Care Unit, Decatur, GA.

Rosalie was born on December 30, 1941, a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Mary June Ruby. Rosalie graduated from Franklin Area High School in 1959 and lived in Utica, PA, Cochranton, PA and Meadville, PA prior to moving to Decatur, GA.

Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by K-Mart in Meadville, PA and worked as a cashier and merchandise stocker.

Rosalie was a member of Saint Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur, GA. In addition to her parents, Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Myers, her son, Donald G. Myers and her sister, Kathleen Ruby.

Rosalie is survived by three children, David M. and his wife MaryAnn of Meadville, PA, Steven J. and his partner Martin Rubay of Decatur, GA and Elizabeth A. (Myers) Peterson of Lawrenceville, GA; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Jason and Kimberly Myers all of Meadville, PA and Ashleigh, Alexis and Anthony Peterson-Myers all of Lawrenceville, GA; two great grandchildren, Alexander of Meadville, PA and Chase of Lawrenceville, GA; seven siblings Barbara Ruby of Douglasville, PA, Joseph Ruby of Manassas, VA, Marjorie Ruby Hansen of Larkspur, CO, Mary Ann Ruby Ott of Benson, NC, George Ruby of Utica, PA, Madeline Ruby Kopta of Hadley, PA and Deborah Ruby Simcock of Warren OH and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews scattered throughout the United States.

Friends and family were received at A.S. Turner and Sons in Decatur, GA on Friday, February 14, 2014 and a funeral mass was held at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur, GA on Saturday, February 15, 2014 presided over by Monsignor Paul Fogarty.

Rosalie’s body is being transported back to PA for eventual burial; family and friends will be received at Dickson’s Funeral Home in Cochranton, PA on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm until 9:00pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Cochranton, PA on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM.

Interment will be in Saint Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Pettis, PA. A dinner and reception will occur at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church after the funeral service.

Erica J. Ochs, 35, of Strattanville, died on Friday, February 14, 2014, at her home.

Born on July 23, 1978 in Johnstown; she was the daughter of Sandra Eckenrode of Homer City and the late Gregory Forberger.

Erica was a 1996 graduate of Derry High School.  She then studied environment biology at Clarion University.

She was married on July 29, 2011 to Andrew M. Ochs, and he survives.

Erica enjoyed fishing and camping.  She loved wolves.

In addition her husband, she is survived by two children, Dillon M. Sinick of Venus and Tristan A. Ochs of Strattanville.

Also surviving are two sisters, Kristy Forberger of Indiana and Amy Forberger of Clymer; and paternal grandmother, Theola Forberger of Cherry Tree.

She was preceded in death by her father; her paternal grandfather, John Forberger, and maternal grandparents, Delmont and Jeanette Brown.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion, with Evan Pippin officiating.

Beverly L. Morris

Beverly L. Morris, age 78, of New Bethlehem, passed away Sunday evening, February 16, 2014 at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville following an extended illness.

Born March 16, 1935 in Curllsville, she was a daughter of the late Raymond L. and Edna M. Stitt McDowell.

Beverly was a 1953 graduate of Sligo High School and a 1957 graduate of Clarion State Teachers College, where she majored in English and Speech Education.

She married Richard L. Morris on August 2, 1958 and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2013.

Beverly was an English and Speech teacher at Union Joint High School in Rimersburg and the Meadville High School. She retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare as a caseworker.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem and was a member of the church choir and hand bell choir. She was also a member of The Garden Club of Clarion County, New Bethlehem Red Hats, New Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Walkers and Coffee Group.

Beverly was an avid walker and gardener and she enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include her sister, Bayonne Hawk of Fairmount City and her children: Shawna Hawk Adams and husband, Mark of Vienna, Virginia; Brett Gemberling and husband, JR, of Mullica Hill, New Jersey; Drew Hawk of Clarion and Cooper Hawk and wife, Jenny of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina; Bayonne’s grandchildren: Hannah Evans, Taylor Evans, Rylie Gemberling, Cooper R., Eli, Celia and Penn Hawk.

Beverly is also survived by her nieces: Ronda Miller of Punxsutawney and her children, Brian and Jason Lettie; Kim McDowell of Marlborough, Massachusetts and Mona Leshock and husband, Cary, of Summerville and her children, Jake and Emily Smith; Sisters-in-law: Debbie McDowell, Arlene “Pat” Morris and Linda Salizonni and her husband, Sam and their family all of Sligo and a brother-in-law, Tom Morris and his wife, Pauline, and their family, also of Sligo.

In addition to her parents and husband, Beverly was preceded in death by her brother, Ray E. McDowell.

Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, 234 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with the Reverend Jodie Smith, a pastor of the Redbank Valley United Methodist Ministry, officiating over the service.

Interment will take place in the Sligo Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given in the name of Beverly L. Morris to the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem, 234 Penn Street, New Bethlehem, PA 16242.

Lucille M. Reisinger, 82, of Warren, PA died Tuesday morning, February 18, 2014 at Warren Manor Nursing Home.

She was born August 14, 1931 in Lucinda, PA and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Mary Guth Reisinger. She was a Warren area resident for the past 40 years and was employed with the Warren State Hospital in the Dietary Department retiring after 20 years employment. Lucille was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church. She enjoyed writing poems, which had been published in the Oil City Derrick.

She is survived by her siblings, Catherine Ditz (Charles) of Warren, PA., Mary Ann Whitling (John) of Lucinda, PA., E. Rita Eiseman (Steve) of Tuscan, AZ., James A. Reisinger (Mary) of Pleasantville, PA., Eugene M. Reisinger (Agnes) of Gilbert, AZ., Paul Reisinger (Cindy) of Erie, PA., Regis “Pete” Reisinger of Lucinda, PA., and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis P. Reisinger and a sister-in-law Lorraine Reisinger.

Gustav Adam Stegh

Gustav Adam Stegh, age 79, of Tionesta, PA, formerly of Euclid, OH, died on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at his home in Tionesta.

He was born December 5, 1934 in Cleveland, OH, son of the late Adam and Rachel (Bertelsen) Stegh.

On January 7, 1961 in Euclid, OH he married Kathleen A. (Straub) Stegh who survives.

Adam was employed as a draftsman for the Osborn Manufacturing Company in Cleveland, OH until he retired at the age of 53 when he and his wife moved to Tionesta. He served his country in the US Navy from 1954-1958 as a 1st Class Machinist Mate.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 53 years is their son, Michael A. Stegh and his wife Terri of Thompson, OH. A daughter, Kim S. Stegh of Maple Heights, OH. 3 grandchildren, Tim Stegh, who is in the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point (Long Island), NY. Traci Stegh who attends Edinboro University in Edinboro, PA, and Adam Stegh of Thompson, OH.

There will be no public visitation. All services held will be private.

Ronald M. Girts

Ronald M. Girts, 73, of Clarion, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at his home of natural causes.

Born April 6, 1940 in Summerville; he was the son of Charles W. and Bertha Mae Mathers Girts.

He was married on July 8, 1961 to the former Donna Beary, and she survives.

A veteran, Ronald served in the Navy.

He worked for the Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Clarion, where he retired in 2003.

Ronald was of the Methodist faith.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and researching deeds at the courthouse.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Deborah Bonner of Fisher and Darlene Szots and her husband, Nandor, of San Diego, CA; and two grandchildren, Branden and Samantha Bonner of Fisher.

Also surviving are two sisters, Phyllis Chestnut of West Seneca, NY, and Nan Wonderling of Osgood, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Johnson; and a brother, Charles Denver Girts.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.

At Mr. Girts request, there will be no visitation or service. Interment will be private.

Nancy F. Carner

Nancy F. Carner, 61, of Chamor Lane in Seneca, entered the gates of Heaven Tuesday afternoon, February 18, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born July 10, 1952 in Oil City, she was the daughter of Sally (Yost) Flockerzi of Seneca and the late Eugene Flockerzi.

Nancy was a 1970 graduate of Cranberry High School. In 1984 she graduated from Clarion University’s Venango Campus as a registered nurse.

She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Oil City, where she served as the chairperson to the T.V. Ministry for many years, and also served on a number of other church committees.

She participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life with her team, ‘Chamor Cancer Cickers,’ a team founded in her honor as she battled cancer herself.

Nancy loved flowers and enjoyed flower gardening, especially her rose garden. She also cherished time spent with her family, camping, and traveling.

She began working as a nurse at the Oil City Hospital. She then worked as a nurse for over twenty years in the recovery room at Titusville Hospital, until her illness prevented her from doing so. She was a loving and caring nurse and enjoyed caring for her patients.

She was married at Grace United Methodist Church on May 11, 1974 to James S. Carner, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Brayton Carner and his wife Jamie of Cranberry Township; and Bryan Carner and his girlfriend Autumn Aites of Oil City; a granddaughter, Emery Grace Carner of Cranberry Township; three sisters, Jean Ann Moffett and husband Edward of Oil City, Christine Guthrie and husband Rich of Oil City, and Abby Flockerzi of Seneca; and one brother, Dennis Flockerzi and his wife Pam of Elkton, Maryland. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, two great-nephews, and a great-niece.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Flockerzi; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Margaret Carner.

Friends will be received Friday (Feb. 21) from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held Saturday (Feb. 22) at 11 a.m. in Grace United Methodist Church, 100 Central Ave. in Oil City. There will be no viewing held at the church. The Rev. Byron Meyers, church pastor, will officiate.

Interment will follow in Rockland Cemetery, Kennerdell.

Charles Robert “Bob” Reed

Charles Robert “Bob” Reed, 73, of Clarion, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at the Autumn Grove Care Center in Harrisville.
Born July 24, 1940 in Natrona Heights; he was the son of Charles R. O’Malley and Gertrude Reed Alwine.

He was married on June 13, 1995 to the former Helen Dwyer, and she survives.

In earlier years, Bob was employed by a brickyard and had many jobs throughout his life. His most recent employment was for CVS Cleaning Services.

Bob was of the Catholic faith.

His best days were with his dog, Stubby. He made a livelihood by walking many places.

Bob played football while he was in high school and enjoyed watching at the Redbank Valley football field in New Bethlehem. He also enjoyed watching the sport of wrestling.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five siblings, Eugene Alwine of New Bethlehem, Ben Alwine of New Bethlehem, Janie Alwine of Clarion, Albert Alwine of Maryland, and Charlotte Hornberger of Knox.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jim Alwine and Butch Alwine.

Arrangements are under the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

James S. Armatas

Mr. James S. Armatas, 78, of 14304 Old Route 8 North, Titusville died at 1:45 PM at his residence surrounded by his wife and children.

Mr. Armatas was born on October 10, 1935 in Titusville to the late Nickolas E. and Bernice Osborne Armatas.

He was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1954.

Jim was a veteran of the US Army. He entered the service on Feb. 17, 1955 at Meadville and was honorably discharged on Dec. 11, 1956 from Ft. Hood in Texas with the rank of SP 4.

Upon his return from the Army, Jim helped run the family business, Drake Café, which he owned for several years after his father had passed away. Jim later went to work for Senator Mahaney as an aide and was Sergeant of Arms for the PA Houseof Representatives under former Rep. Bud Dwyer. He also worked briefly for Lou McKinney and Gilbert Bigley at Northwest Motors before joining the Titusville Police Department. He served the Titusville community from 1970 to the time of his retirement in 1996.

Mr. Armatas was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a past Exalted Ruler for the B.P.O. Elks #264 in Titusville, and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 50.

He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt, play golf, go camping and traveling, as well as, an avid Steeler fan.

Jim is survived by his wife Mary Sue Shaver Klingler Armatas of Titusville, whom he married on October 12, 1968 at the Hydetown Methodist Church; four children, Daniel Klingler and fiancé Lynne Benjamin of Townville, Deanna Roggenkamp and husband Rick of Cochranton, Denise Warner and husband Jerry of Titusville, James S. Armatas, Jr. and wife Mindy of Hydetown; 14 grandchildren, Meagan Hlopick of Townville, Danielle Klingler of Meadville, Benjamin Klingler of Townville, JC Bienio and wife Rhonda of Townville, Ryan Bienio of Minot, ND, Victoria Lowery and husband Darrell of Erie, Andrew Bienio of Cochranton, Justin Warner of Titusville, Ashleigh Kenyon and husband Kyle of Titusville, Josh Warner of Titusville, Ashley Wesley and husband Michael of Titusville, James S. Armatas III of Hydetown, Lisa Nichols and husband Doug of Titusville, Laura Roggenkamp of Townville; 10 great grandchildren, Madyson Banik, Reese Hlopick, Ricky Bienio, Camron Bienio, Ava Lowery, Mason Bienio, Makaia Yunik, Kailea Nichols, Lydia Nichols, Elliana Nichols; a brother, Nickolas Armatas of San Francisco, CA; a brother-in-law, Charles Shaver of Townville; a sister-in-law, Patricia Hohman and husband Scott of Pleasantville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Kai Yunik; and two sisters, Millia Sullivan and Mary Mackas.

Sherri L. Farnham, 44, of 502 Allen St. Titusville, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie of natural causes.

Sherri was born on January 24, 1970 in Titusville, a daughter of Rose Sedina Shade and the late James Shade. She was married to Scott Farnham who survives.

Sherri was a graduate of the Titusville High School, class of 1988. She had most recently been employed at BSI in insurance claims. She had also been employed at the Rouse Home in Youngsville; Attorney Kemp Scales office in Titusville; and at Salvage Direct.

She was a member of St. James Memorial Episcopal Church and of the Hydetown Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed scrapbooking, planning parties, playing “Just Dance”, doing arts and crafts, telling funny jokes, spending time with her pets, and mostly spending time with her family.

Sherri is survived by her husband of Hydetown; two daughters, Emily A. Farnham and Kaitlynn M. Farnham of Titusville; her mother of Titusville; a sister, Lisa A. Williams and husband Thomas of Centerville; a nephew, Matthew Thomas; a special friend, Steven Coyer of Lakewood, NY; and several cousins.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and attend the funeral service there on Monday at 2:00 PM.

Interment will be in Kingsley Cemetery in Townville.

Virginia M. “Ginny” Kahle

Virginia M. “Ginny” Kahle, 96, formerly of Mechanicsville, Route 66, Clarion, passed away on February 20, 2014.

Born on September 5, 1917 in Rimersburg, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Snyder) Fowler. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

On February 20, 1937, she married William H. Kahle. He preceded her in death in 2002.

For many years she and her husband enjoyed golfing at High Level Golf Course. They were active members of the New Rehoboth-Greenville Presbyterian Church. She sang in the choir for many years and was a member of the ladies group.

Mrs. Kahle worked at the Clarion Restaurant, First Seneca Bank and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Kahle is survived by her son, William D. Kahle and his wife Suzanne of Limestone Township; her daughter, Anita J. Hall and her husband Joseph R. “Pete” of Tylersburg; seven grandchildren, Kelly Simonette, Shari Huffman, Terri Williams, Dawn Hall, Mark Kahle, Mike Kahle, and Tom Kahle; 12 great-grandchildren, Cory and Cirsta Hankey, Audrey Regnier and Abby Huffman, Elijah and Malachi Kahle, Eden, Nathan and Joshua Kahle, Jeremy Kahle, and Matthew and Jennifer Williams; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, Bennett and Penelope Regnier and Kessler Hankey.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kahle was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Kahle; an infant son; six brothers, Paul, Floyd, Joe, Bob, Earl, and Raymond “Shorty” Fowler; and two sisters, Florence McCall and Marie Smail.

The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers with the DRMC Hospice program for their care and compassion during the past week.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home, 330 Wood Street, in Clarion where visitation will be held from 3-7pm on Friday, February 21. An additional visitation will be held on Saturday morning, February 22, from 10-11am at the New Rehoboth-Greenville Presbyterian Church, Rehoboth Church Road, Strattanville, to be followed by funeral services at 11:00am, with Rev. James Dietrich officiating. Interment will follow in the New Rehoboth Cemetery.

Sherri L. Farnham, 44, of 502 Allen St. Titusville, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie of natural causes.

Sherri was born on January 24, 1970 in Titusville, a daughter of Rose Sedina Shade and the late James Shade. She was married to Scott Farnham who survives.

Sherri was a graduate of the Titusville High School, class of 1988. She had most recently been employed at BSI in insurance claims. She had also been employed at the Rouse Home in Youngsville; Attorney Kemp Scales office in Titusville; and at Salvage Direct.

She was a member of St. James Memorial Episcopal Church and of the Hydetown Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed scrapbooking, planning parties, playing “Just Dance”, doing arts and crafts, telling funny jokes, spending time with her pets, and mostly spending time with her family.

Sherri is survived by her husband of Hydetown; two daughters, Emily A. Farnham and Kaitlynn M. Farnham of Titusville; her mother of Titusville; a sister, Lisa A. Williams and husband Thomas of Centerville; a nephew, Matthew Thomas; a special friend, Steven Coyer of Lakewood, NY; and several cousins.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and attend the funeral service there on Monday at 2:00 PM.

Interment will be in Kingsley Cemetery in Townville.

Kahle PhotoVirginia M. “Ginny” Kahle, 96, formerly of Mechanicsville, Route 66, Clarion, passed away on February 20, 2014.

Born on September 5, 1917 in Rimersburg, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Snyder) Fowler. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

On February 20, 1937, she married William H. Kahle. He preceded her in death in 2002.

For many years she and her husband enjoyed golfing at High Level Golf Course. They were active members of the New Rehoboth-Greenville Presbyterian Church. She sang in the choir for many years and was a member of the ladies group.

Mrs. Kahle worked at the Clarion Restaurant, First Seneca Bank and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Kahle is survived by her son, William D. Kahle and his wife Suzanne of Limestone Township; her daughter, Anita J. Sara Margaret “Peg” Bowser, 71, Powell, Tennessee, formerly of Bruin, died Wednesday evening, February 19, 2014 at Physician’s Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.

Born on November 24, 1942 in Parker, Peg was the daughter of the late Willis Arnold and Mary Jane Hilliard Bowser.

Peg was a graduate of Fairview Township Karns City High School and retired from Industrial Terminals in New Kensington where she had been employed as a bookkeeper.

Peg is survived by two brothers, Daniel A. Bowser and his wife, Marilyn Jo of Knoxville, TN, and Joseph Bowser of Randlemon, NC; three nephews, Max H. Bowser of Oak Ridge, TN, Garret M. Bowser of Sterling, VA, and P. Mitchell Bowser of Richmond, VA; as well as seven great nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 2 – 4 p.m. Friday, Feb 28.

James M. Bowser, 86 of New Bethlehem (Distant), died on Thursday evening, February 20 at the Brookville Hospital.

He was born on May 29, 1927 in New Bethlehem, Pa. (Distant) and son of Thomas C. and Mary K. (Crisswell) Bowser. He was married on July 17, 1948 to Helen K. (Minich) and she preceded him in death on November 20, 2002.

Jim served his country with the United States Army during World War II as a private in Company C, 14th Battalion 4th Regiment. He worked as a coal miner and also an equipment operator for the H K Porter Brickyard in St. Charles where he retired from in 1976. He was a member of the New Bethlehem Moose, New Bethlehem Lodge #522 F & AM and Coudersport Consistory.

He is survived by two sons, James M. Bowser, Jr. and his wife Cathy of Fairmount City and Steven L. Bowser and his wife Lisa of New Bethlehem (Distant), five grandchildren, Shawn Minich (Cathy), Chad Bowser (Erin), Casie Minich (Justin), Ashley Wells (Ted), and Jacob Bowser (Tiffany), eight great grandchildren, Cody Minich, Sammi and Sydnie Bowser, Tate and Reese Minich, and Karlee, Kaylee and Brayden Wells, and one brother, Kenneth “Red” Bowser and his wife Jean of New Bethlehem.

In addition to both parents and his wife Helen K. Bowser, Jim was preceded in death by a son, Edward L. Minich, two sisters, Mary Ann Kennedy and Cleo Freedline, and two brothers, Marion “Dick” Bowser and Robert “Bob” Bowser
Visitation will be on Sunday, February 23, from 3 – 8 and Monday, February 24, from 10 – 11 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am Monday at the funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Swogger officiating.

Immediately following the funeral service, The Walter W. Craig Post 354 American Legion of New Bethlehem will honor their fallen comrade. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.

Charles R. “Chuck” Vasey Jr., 87, of St. Petersburg, Clarion County, a long time St. Petersburg businessman, went to Heaven to be with his family and friends on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot following an illness.

Born on September 27, 1926 in St. Petersburg, Clarion County, Chuck was the son of C. Ralph and Margaret Linnon Vasey.

Chuck was a 1944 graduate of St. Petersburg Richland High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having earned the rank of TSgt. Chuck was stationed in the Philippines during World War II. When the war ended Chuck returned to the family business, Vasey’s Garage in St. Petersburg, working with his father. After his father’s passing, Chuck continued to operate the family business for many years with inspections, gasoline, and used car sales.

Chuck married the former Ruth E. Milliren at Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester, VA on February 28, 1959. The couple would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary next week.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg where he served on church council. He was a member of the Foxburg American Legion Miller-Rankin Post #636 and the Clarion VFW Post #2145. Chuck was an antique car enthusiast and enjoyed talking and reminiscing about antique cars.

In addition to his wife, Ruth E. Vasey, Chuck is survived by two nieces, one nephew, a number of cousins, and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Chuck is preceded in death by two sisters and a nephew.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2014 from St. Peter Lutheran Church, St. Petersburg, with the Rev. Deborah K. Jacobson, church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Petersburg Cemetery, Clarion County.
